Transportation Series

This coin is the 2000 ship coin from the Royal Canadian Mint hologram transportation set.

The transportation set was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint between 2000 and 2002, commemorating Canadian achievements in transportation. Designed by J. Franklin Wright, a famous nautical painter from Cape Breton, this coin depicts the Bluenose which was built in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and launched in 1921. A working fishing schooner, the Bluenose won the International Fisherman's Trophy the entire 18 years in which she raced. The original Bluenose sunk in the Caribbean in 1946. A replica was launched in 1963 whose home berth is in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The encapsulated coin in this lot is in the original mint case and box along with a numbered mint certificate. The quantity minted was limited to 15,000 which were sold out at the mint very quickly.
