2000 Solomon David Gillis Fingerstyle Model Handcarved Archtop guitar built by Erich Solomon (see more of Erich's work at: http://www.solomonguitars.com/)

The basic acoustic guitar was custom designed and handbuilt specifically for David Gillis for just over $6,500.00. Then David had the ebony pickguard and all electronics added at a cost unknown but estimated at another $750-1,000; electronics include floating magnetic pickup and piezo bridge pickup, Volume and Tone, as well as a blending control to mix the two pickups if desired for a wide range of tonal possibilities. Violin oil finish has accumulated some minor surface marks/scratches, but nothing severe and nothing through the finish. Spruce top and Koa back are handcarved. Abalone inlays tastefully accent headstock, 12th fret and tailpiece. 11-layer binding. Sound port on upper bout. Cedar Creek Custom case included of course. Note: Koa used was the most highly figured piece Erich had ever used or seen; he mentioned this piece was an extremely high-dollar piece he had originally set aside for himself, but eventually used for David's guitar (added value of the Koa estimated by Erich at $1,000-$2,000 over the original price). Total estimated value: $8,500-$10,000. I have chosen to list it at the price at $6,500 which is what it originally sold for not counting the many upgrades highlighted above. While I will consider offers, please be as reasonable as possible.

Professionally packed and shipping provided to the upper 48 states ONLY—sorry, no exceptions with this instrument. Positive feedback bidders only.

Thanks for taking the time to view this listing and best of luck should you decide to bid :)

Questions and answers about this item

Q: Does it have a chunky neck? Is it C or V shaped? Is it 1 &3/4 at the nut? Thanks Dave
A: Not chunky at all and without any noticeable V-shaping, but does feel and fit nicely; more typical of the C-shape profile found on most high-end archtops — and, yes: 1 3/4" nut width. Thanks for your interest, your... Continue reading

Q: Beautiful looking guitar...but how does it SOUND? Is it magic? Does it have mojo? That's really all that matters... Thanks, Dan
A: Sound is amazing. Somewhat typical of a Koa instrument acoustically, but more resonant and better projection due to the carved top design and nothing matches handbuilt craftmanship in my opinion. Plugged in,... Continue reading

Seller's payment instructions
As a general rule, returns are NOT accepted due to obvious reasons (have had more than one buyer attempt to purchase, use the instrument for a recording project, then ask for a return—I am NOT Macy's ;) However, should there be some valid reason quickly communicated, I will do my best to consider all factors fairly and make whatever amends are necessary up to and including a full refund. NOTE: The instrument is described honestly and to the best of my ability.
