2001-2006 DODGE STRATUS iPOD DIRECT CONNECT INTERFACE + AUX INPUT
from USA SPEC
2001-2006 Dodge Stratus (Radio Must have a Mode or CD-C button)
Compatiblity Notes!!!!
1.) FULLY COMPATIBLEWITH OR WITHOUT factory premium sound (Bose, Infinity, etc...) this feature will remain unchanged and work just as it does now.
2.) NOT COMPATIBLEWITH the factory Navigation radio (RB1 or RB4).
3.) NOT COMPATIBLEWITH the factory 6-disc in-dash CD Changer radio (RBQ).
4.) NOT COMPATIBLEWITHexternal 4 or 6-disc changer, you must disconnect your factory EXTERNAL CHANGER to be able to use this interface, by external we mean you do not put your all of your CD's into your radio. Sometimes there is a 4-disc changer built into your dash or a 6-disc changer somewhere else in the vehicle, you would need to disconnect this in order for this to work.
5.) NOT COMPATIBLEWITH Factory XM reciever, please contact us if you have Factory Sirius/XM Satellite radio.
Want to add iPOD to your vehicle, but dont drive the car listed above?Dont worry, check out our other iPOD Direct Connect Interfaces in our STORE!!
New!!!! This iPOD direct connect interface will allow you to Connect your iPOD directly into your factory radio & give your a additional aux input to your factory stereo. You will be able to control your iPOD through your factory car stereo and your iPOD will charge its battery while connected. For the additional Aux input you can run anything into it via RCA's and switch to that instead of the iPOD anytime by pressing a button on your factory car stereo. This interface is the best solution for adding your iPOD to your factory car stereo. Never settle for a noisy radio frequency FM (RF) modulator / transmitter.
This interface connects an ipod directly to your factory audio system. Its on-board software translates commands from your External CD Changer controls into commands that the iPOD understands, and provides the following benefits:
Retains Digital Sound Quality
Allows you to Control your iPod from the factory radio buttons
Includes 4ft Cable
Keeps iPod Charged And Ready To Go and the iPOD will automatically stop charging one hour after the iPOD is paused. iPOD will go to SLEEP mode after charging.
Control your iPOD from your factory radio and steering wheel controls (if equipped)
Retains iPod display and Controls
Where do I install this iPOD interface?
This installation will require you to temporarily remove the factory radio in order to plug in the vehicle specific harness. We have posted instructions for removing your factory stereo are posted below. If you have any questions about removing your radio please e-mail us at sales@integrationsolutions.net.
Here are the installation instructions for once you get the radio removed
1.) Set DIP Switch #2 to the "OFF" position only if direct mode is preferred. To learn more about 'DIRECT MODE' and 'PLAYLIST MODE' scroll down, we have posted info on both ways this interface can be set.
2.) Identify the connector on the back of your factory radio. We have put a picture below of each connector.
If you radio has a CD-C button you will use the round connector, look at the 1st diagram below
If your radio has a MODE button you will use the gray 10-pin connector, look at the 2nd diagram below
After you have indentified your connector on the back of your factory radio, unplug any plug that might be plugged into it. This is where you would unplug your factory external CD changer if you have one. This iPOD interface can not co-exist with a factory external CD changer becuase they use the same port.
3.) Plug the CAS-CXi (included, pictured below) cable into the back of your factory stereo. For this install you will need to determine if you will be using the round connector (8-pin, use if you have a CD-C button) or gray connector (10-pin, use if you have a MODE button) on this cable.
4.) Plug the round 8-pin connector (on the opposite side of the radio connectors) on the CAS-CXi cable (included) to this interface where it is labeled "RADIO". (Do not connect your iPOD to this interface prior to the completion of this step!!)
5.) If you choose to usa the additional AUX input select "OFF" on DIP switch #1 on the side of the iPOD interface. Connect the audio output of your auxillary device to the AUX input jack on this interface.
Here is a picture of the AUX input side of this interface:
7.) Plug the CB-PA14 cable (included) into the iPOD interface where it is labeled "iPOD"
8.) Re-install the radio to the dash after a successful test.
Is this compatible with my iPOD? What iPOD's is this compatible with?
This interface is compatible with the following iPod's through the bottom dock connector:
NANO (ALL MODELS)
VIDEO (ALL MODELS)
PHOTO (ALL MODELS)
MINI (ALL MODELS)
G3 (3rd GEN)
G4 (4th GEN)
Basically all models except the 10GB, 15GB and iPOD Suffle. It will plug right into the bottom dock connector of your iPOD and lock into place while connected to your car.
How do I control the iPOD from my Factory Radio?
This interface provides 2 ways to control your iPOD through your factory car radio, namely Direct Mode & Playlist Mode.
You must select one way or the other before connecting this interface, if you want to change modes you will have to disconnect this interface and switch one of the dip switches on the interface, then re-connect to your factory car radio.
What is Direct Mode?
Direct Mode allows you to search and select music on your iPOD directly just as you would in portable use. The sound of the music will play back through your factory car stereo. Use the Track Up/Track Down, fast forward and reverse buttons on your radio to control music playback. All control functions on your iPOD are available to use too.
When the iPOD is connected to the adapter in Direct Mode your iPOD screen will screen will go blank for a few seconds before the normal screen returns. To select your iPOD simplys set source on your radio to CD Changer, at this point the audio of your iPOD will be played back at DISC 5 and TRACK 1. This will not affect your factory CD player in any way, you will set the MODE (with MODE button or CD-C button) on it to the DISC 5 and TRACK 1 like it was a external CD changer.
What is Playlist Mode?
Playlist Mode allows you to operate and control your iPOD like it is a External CD Changer. This mode allows you to access up to 5 playlists on your iPOD. This is also referenced as External Control Mode of the iPOD. In this mode you will be able to control your iPOD directly from your factory stereo.
When operating your iPOD in PLAYLIST MODE make sure and turn your factory radio ON before connecting your iPOD. After connection, the iPOD will take a few moments to change to external control mode. The screen of your iPOD will then show and you are now able to select your iPOD as a source in Playlist mode.
How do I select iPOD as a source on my Dodge Radio?
Remember, this interface will control your iPOD just as it would a external CD Changer regardless of what mode (Playlist or Direct) it is in. So by Pressing the MODE or CD-C button repeatedly (usually once or twice) your radio will go to CD Changer (iPOD) mode. At this point your radio will say "CD 6-x" on the radio display. This display confirms that the iPOD mode has been completely synchronized and activated. Synchronization timing varies according to the number of Playlists on your iPOD.
If your iPOD was playing previously before your radio or ACC power was off, and the iPOD was not disconnected, playback resumes from where it was stopped.
Can I still use the Buttons/Click Wheel on my iPOD with this interface?
This interface allows you to keep full control of the iPod from the click wheel when in Direct Mode. You can browse files and change playlist on the iPod. You can also skip songs forward, backwards, rewind and fast forward from the iPod or your car stereo when in Direct Mode. . You will still be able to control your iPOD from the clickwheel if you want, this interface does not disable it.
What will it say on my Factory Radio while its Playing?
Your factory radio will display "CD 1-x" (x is the track number of the "now playing" song on your iPOD). This interface does not send any information from the iPod to the radio. This means that the DISC and TRACK numbers shown on the display will not and can not reflect the song number on the iPod due to the complex nature of the music library. Some factory radio’s may flash zero’s on the display of the radio, or toggle back and forth between Tracks "1" and "2". All these are normal behaviors and do not represent a malfunction.
How do I select a playlist from my factory radio?
To select a playlist press DISC UP or DISC DOWN on your factory car stereo. The select playlist will begin playing and the playlist number and track number will be displayed on your factory radio. After playing the last song in the current playlist, playback will start again from the first track of this playlist. You will be able to access a total of 6 playlists (5 Custom playlists (explained below) and 1 for ALL songs on your iPOD).
What is Custom playlist?
While in playlist mode this interface scans for all available playlists on your iPOD and looks for designated (custom) playlists which are created for direct access with DISC buttons on your Dodge factory radio. The designated Dodge playlists are related to DISC number in the following manner:
DISC 1: CHR1...
DISC 2: CHR2...
DISC 3: CHR3...
DISC 4: CHR4...
DISC 5: CHR5...
DISC 6: ALL SONGS ON iPOD
The naming of the designated Dodge Playlists in iTUNES for this interface must be exactly as shown. CHR must be in capital letters and there can be no spaces between CHR text and number (ex. CHR1..)
However you may add any text after the correct naming of the playlist. For example, you can put CHR1-Jazz.
If no playlists are created this interface automatically relates to the first 5 available playlists on your iPOD to disc #1 thru 5 regardless of playlist naming.
What functions can I control thru my factory radio?
You will be able to control the following functions of your iPOD thru your factory radio.
SCAN
RANDOM (SHUFFLE)
REPEAT
TRACK UP / DOWN
FAST TRACK (x10)
FAST FORWARD / FAST REVERSE PLAY
Will my Factory Steering Wheel Remote control the iPOD too?
If you have the ability to select track and control the forward and rewind functions of your factory CD changer, then they will also control these same functions on the iPod.
How do I select and operate the AUX input function of this interface?
If you want to be able to use your AUX input make sure and set DIP SWITCH on the side of this interface must be set to the "OFF" position (Factory presets it at the "ON" position). Simply plug your RCA's into the input jack labeled AUX INPUT on the adapter.
To access your the AUX INPUT, select CD changer source on your radio. After doing so go to DISC 6 TRACK 1. This will allow you to access the AUX INPUT and you will start to hear sounds from anything you have connected to the AUX input.
1) Getting surround sound from your DVD system without having a noisy FM Modulator
2) Playing your Satellite Radio through your factory stereo without a noisy FM Modulator.
