All installations will require you to remove the factory radio in order to plug in the vehicle specific harness. If you need instructions on how to do this, please let us know when you purchase this item so we can include step by step instructions. This interface comes with all harnesses needed to install to your factory car stereo.
-Here are the instructions for installation-
1. Disconnect the Negative Battery Terminal
2. Remove the Ford Factory Radio to gain access to the connectors on the back of the radio. We can provide Picture by Picture instructions for removing the factory radio with each order.
3. Remove any connector that may be connected to the 16-pin DATA Port, this will just pop right out if you have it connected.
4. Plug in the 16-pin connector of this interface into the 16-pin DATA port on the back of the Factory Ford Radio.
5. Reconnect the factory 16-pin DATA cable (if present) into the mating socket on this interface.
Note: Factory Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system, if present, will need to be disconnected from the factory harness
6. Connect the BLACK/GREEN Wire on this interface to Ground (Vehicle Chassis)
7. Connect the GRAY/VIOLET Wire on this interface to Constant +12-volt (power) source.
8. Connect appropriate length patch cord (not included) between the interface and your Auxillary Device (iPOD, XM, Sirius, Video Sound, etc.)
9. Rotate the "input sensitivity" adjustment (on this interface) to its fully clockwise position (minimum level).
10. Reconnect the Negative Battery Terminal.
Can I match sound levels with this interface?
YES. This interface features a a built-in audio ajustment circuitry with a +0 to +20 dB input sensitivity range of 0.475 to 4.75 volts (peak to peak). This allows the installer to match the audio line level of the AUX device to the audio level of the AM, FM, or CD modes on the factory radio.
Is this compatible with my iPOD? What iPOD's is this compatible with?
This interface is compatible with all iPod's including the shuffle, and any other MP3 player you might have. Just plug a RCA to Headphone jack into the interface and your MP3 player.
Remember, this interface will you to select your iPOD or any other device just as it would the factory Sirius or RSE. So by Pressing the "AUX" button your radio will go to RSE/Sirius Mode and what ever you have connected to this interface (iPOD, XM, Sirius, Video, MP3 etc.) will start playing through your stereo.
You will not be able to control your iPOD, MP3, XM, Sirius, Etc. from your radio but you will have full control from what ever you have connected.
What will it say on my factory radio while this interface is activated?
Display on the Ford factory radio will show "DVD/CD" for a few seconds then the radio will display "PIE"
Can I still use the Buttons/Click Wheel on my iPOD/MP3 with this interface?
This interface allows you to keep full control of the iPod from the click wheel once installed. You can play it through your factory car stereo with crystal clear sound while controling it like you would normally.
