The Canadian Silver Wolf $1 coin was introduced in year 2006 by the Royal Canadian Mint as a half-ounce option to the popular one-ounce Maple Leaf coins.  This investment concept was abandoned within the first year of production resulting in a mintage level much lower than anticipated (only 455,000 minted).

These beautiful coins became extremely popular with collectors following news of the highly successful wolf reintroduction program in the Northern Rockies. By the end of year 2006 the RCM mint was sold-out and many dealer inventories had been depleted. This plus the rising demand and value of silver makes these coins increasingly more difficult to find.
