Fadal Performance Series Vertical Machining Centers

The Fadal 3020 model features 30" x 20" x 24" (X Y Z) travels and is one of the Fadal line of higher performance VMCs with new castings that feature heavier construction for faster cycle times and heavier metal removal operations.

Vibration Damping
For maximum vibration damping and rigidity, the 3020 features heavy cast-iron Box Ways with wider surface area contact.

Box Way Construction
Fadal Box Ways are hardened and ground and utilize non-metallic liners that are virtually friction-free on all way and gibs surfaces to ensure vibration-free cutting for consistently closer tolerances.

Positive Displacement Lubrication
Machine stickslip is virtually eliminated, accuracy preserved and machine life extended by positive displacement lubrication over the full length of the way surface.

Performance Series
The Performance Series are robust VMCs designed to deliver high material removed rates, and reduced part cycle times while holding increased positioning accuracy and repeatability. They feature heavy cast iron construction, flame hardened Box Ways, automatic mechanical two-speed spindle drive system and dual arm tool changer.

Even the toughest cutting conditions can be easily handled with 1,724 kg. of thrust produced by high performance AC axis drive motors and large diameter ball screws.

The performance machines - VMC 3020 and VMC 4525 - have larger and wider castings and XYZ Box Ways for dynamic rigidity.

The integral cast iron Box Ways with non-metallic way liners provide faster absorption of vibrations inherent to machining operations assuring smooth part finishes and long machine life.

The Box Ways are flame hardened and precision ground at our Fadal plant. Each Box Way has internal webbing to provide extra strength and optimum rigidity.

High performance AC axis motors combined with large 40 mm diameter ball screws provide 3800 lbs. thrust per axis to handle the toughest cutting conditions.

Box Way machines, such as this VMC 3020, have a very wide path that makes contact over a wide area. The vibration into the tool and into the part is less because this wide contact area dampens vibrations.
