2006 JOSE RODRIGUEZ FLAMENCO GUITAR "1a" MODEL

José Rodríguez Peña, handmade guitars maker, was born in Andújar in 1958. He started making guitars in 1972, influenced by Miguel Rodríguez and Manuel Reyes, both of them fine guitarreros from Córdoba.

José Rodríguez Peña makes high quality handmade guitars, classical as well as flamenco ones. His favorited method of finishing them is the French polish. He makes first class guitars, all of them numbered.

His guitars are exclusively made for clients like Pepe de Lucía,( Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo - SEE PICS BELOW ), Alejandro Sanz, Paco Pena, Paco Serrano, Miguel Barberá, among others.

José Rodríguez has participated in several events like exhibitions such as the Santiago Úbeda Hospital, in the Flamenco World Fair, etc..

His guitars are exhibited in the Andalusian Flamenco Foundation in Jerez (Cádiz), as well as in particular collections. The National Classical Guitar Contest in Coria (Cáceres) has got one of his guitars as the winner of the first prize.

His construction is a hybrid of "Old World" craftsmanship combined with cutting edge technology. The result is a phenomal guitar that plays & sounds like no other.

His early dedication and daily work have consecrated him in the world of Flamenco as well as Classical as one of the finest Luthiers existing in the world.

==========================================================

This guitar was custom built for me by Jose in 2006.

Its specifications are :

French Polish Finish

Master Grade German Spruce Top

Royal Spanish Cypress back & sides

African Ebony fingerboard

Ebony friction peg tuners

670 scale length

53 mm. nut width

===========================================================

This particular guitar is very very close in 'personality' to my 1983 Reyes

The guitar is an excellent original condition. The only exception being numerous small finish cracks on the top only.

These are extremely fine & in the finish only; not in the wood. ( please see pics)

The guitars tone is very dry & percussive. A true 'Gypsy Sounding' guitar !

The action is very low & rasqueados seem to play themselves !

The friction pegs work very well & hold tune perfectly.

Good quality hardshell case is included.

Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have.
