2007 #12 Steve Smith SBXLII Game Issued W/Team COA!
What a spectacular Post Season for the Rookie WR out of USC!
Steve Smith was drafted in the second round (51st overall) by the New York Giants in the 2007 NFL Draft. His jersey number is currently 12. Smith only played in 5 games in the 2007 regular season (Weeks 1, 2, 15, 16, 17), recording 8 catches for 63 yards and zero touchdowns. However, after returning from a shoulder and hamstring injury, Smith turned in an outstanding postseason as he became a reliable third down receiver for quarterback Eli Manning. He made two big catches at the end of the first half in Dallas, which setup a game-tying touchdown and caught five passes in Super Bowl XLII, including four on third down. Smith and the Giants prevailed over the New England Patriots 17-14.
Assuming the Giants used the same method we know they used in previous Super Bowl apperances (we have inventory with Team LOA from the Giants Equipment Manager stating this fact from their last SB apperance in 2000), this jersey would have been worn during media day in Arizona! It would also mean that this is the only other jersey prepared for the player with the SBXLII Patch affixed that traveled to the game site with the team equipment. If you played in the SB, would you keep your jersey? Of course so! That is why this jersey is as close as you'll get to owning a SBXLII Gamer unless the player didn't keep the one he wore during the historical game! These are extremely rare and Smith is a Rookie with a Ring!!!!
