23" with such a beautiful face. No damage and no repair. This amazing Figure A Bebe Steiner will melt your heart. Marked on back of head LE PARISIEN Bte S.G.D.G. A 15 . Incised A. 15. Body is marked correctly on hip Le Petite Parisien Bebe Steiner Medaille d' or Paris 1889. There are 2 Mama Papa pull strings on the side of the body where the Steiner markings are. These pull strings don't put out much of a sound. This is correct for this open mouth doll. Only the open mouth dolls had pull string talkers. There is a bellows inside the body, quite often they don't work but are charming to see what the old masters came up with.
The Steiner dolls have the BEST hands ever. Very delicately sculpted with correct red outlining white finger nails. Totally correct !!!
Circa 1889 with perfect bisque, peaches and cream complexion, finely feathered (the type collectors like) Steiner brows, mauve eye shadow, delicately painted upper and lower lashes surround sparkling blue glass Steiner sleep eyes. Cute open mouth has outlined lips with teeth and dimple in chin. Very pretty doll with a happy expression.
