This is our exclusive Pro equipment a very limited quantity from most trusted African carver. Unique combination of a djembe head and bottleneck like bottom this drum sounds like a champ. It's sounds is a hybrid of Djembe and Bougarabou taking the best from both worlds, bougarabou bass and Djembe slaps. Listen to the sound clip and you'll be surprized as we were. Extremely capable instrument with at least 13" play surface.
This beautifully carved, djembe brings to you many of the adornments of which the Asante and other Akan peoples of Ghana, Africa are famous for. The end result is a truly unique and stunning instrument that is exclusively available from Afrodesign Studios.
Each drum is carefully inspected, tuned (see on line drum FAQ for tuning instructions) and packed. The bass is heavy, and slap tones are very crisp. You can listen how nicely this drum sounds.
Hand made from single piece Mansonia wood, using mid section, for best balance of strength and weight, twice oiled with shea butter oil and kiln dried to prevent cracks.
Leather Dry close shaved (no stabs) goat (white top drums) or stained calf (reddish top drums) skin. We use thicker back leathers that give a more expressive sound and last better than belly-skins.
We use high quality imported nylon non-stretch rope with dacron core to ensure stable tuning.
Anthrax The leather heads are animal skins, and many from Africa and Asia can transmit anthrax. While most producers and sellers ignore this risk, we have each of our drums tested before shipping to ensure they are anthrax free. Don endanger yourself and your family.
