3 ANTIQUE SHAKER? HAND CARVED CLOTHES PINS CLOTHESPINS
WITH SOME OF BARK STILL ON THE WOOD.
(This week: a fine collection of early shaker and hand made sewing items!)

These little clothespins are really super. Typical Shaker shape, what makes these more unusual is the striping from the bark along all three. This meant that the maker had to find perfectly straight sticks, all of the same size. Definitely early, as attested to by the dry, dark patina and age-splits along the top of each (none deep enough to threaten the integrity of the piece.)  These are the only three that I've seen with this "finish."

CONDITION: Very good condition; As mentioned, each pin has an age crack along the top edge - they're wide, but shallow - none threatens the integrity of the pieces. They each have a small, shallow nick in them, but the nick is in the exact same place on each, so I DON'T think it's a flaw, but seems intentional.
