Very rarely seen set of 3 decanters and a drinking glass made by Daum Nancy for the firm of Damon & Delente; French, c1911. Ref: Arwas 'Glass Art nouveau to Art Deco' p.44, and Christies Paris Daum sale #5113, lot #1 for an almost identical single decanter that sold for over $1400. After his earlier successes with wheel-carved Daum Nancy cameo glass at his shop 'Au Vase Etrusque' located at 20 Blvd Malesherbes, Louis Damon went into partnership with his brother-in-law and changed the business name to 'Damon & Delente' in 1911.
These decanters are great fun - each is decorated front and back with whimsical hand-painted Chinese scenes - the sides decorated with flowers,,,the drinking glass shares the same motif. Each decanter measures approx. 6.25" high and the drinking glass is approx. 4". With the exception of a chip on the end of one stopper,, the whole set is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is no wear to the enamel and no sickness or cloudiness to the interiors. All 3 decanters are signed to the underside in gold-gilt 'Damon & Delente' '20 Blvd Malesherbes' 'Paris'.
