3 GIANT SEQUOIA REDWOOD TREE SEEDLINGS IN CONTAINERS 08

Your bid is for 1 package containing 3 giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) seedlings that are 12” to 18” tall. These seedlings are from our 2008 crop and will be shipped in the containers that they are grown in. They are 18 months old. The picture was taken on 7/16/09. The transplant success rate of our container grown stock is 100% if proper care is provided. 

These seedlings are grown in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California near the ancient groves of giant sequoias. They are grown outdoors and conditioned to wind, heat, and cold. Sequoias have very tender feeder roots that are broken with the slightest touch. The plant depends on these fragile little roots for hydration and sustenance. Breaking these feeder roots harms the tree so we only ship them in the containers with roots and soil intact preserving the tender roots. The tree can be easily removed from the container without harming the roots and planted with the root ball intact.  

Giant sequoias grow in all climate zones. Sequoias are not drought resistant. You must be prepared to water the trees to get them started and during times of drought thereafter.

The sequoia seedlings are sometimes used as favors for guests at events. We also have display stands that can be purchased separately.
