   This auction is for a set of three 2009 Illy Pedro Almodovar espresso coffee cups with saucers (three cups and three saucers). They hold approx. 2 1/2 ounces (70 ml) to the brim and measure approx. 2" high and are 2 1/2" wide (at the brim). Three cups TOTAL, they are accompanied by the Illy unisize 5 3/8" white saucers. These are the newest bar series cups released by Illy. Some of the official Illy verbage is as follows:

"This illy set was designed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar for illy caffè. Almodóvar’s series takes inspiration from six of the famed Spanish director’s most admired films; Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988), Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (1990), High Heels (1991), The Flower of My Secret (1995), Bad Education (2004) and Volver (2006). The individually decorated cups depict his signature themes of love, women including his favorite lead actress Penélope Cruz — desire, passion and family."

"Internationally acclaimed actor, script-writer and director Pedro Almodóvar was born in 1949 in Calzada de Calatrava in the La Mancha region of Spain and is best known for his films portraying the tumultuous transformation of post-Franco Spain.
