30s VINTAGE SEARS CHRISTMAS CATALOG FASHIONS HOME TOYS |
 |
 |

Offered for your historically correct 30's Depression Era reference library is a Fall and Winter 1931-1932 Sears Roebuck and Co. catalogue.
This has 1,190 pages of every possible item one needed or longed for to stay warm and happy that Christmas. You will find merchandise here from toys for tots, to diamonds, fur coats, hats and bags for momma, to rifles, footballs and "striking bags" for big brother, and tools, a new Elgin, or plow for daddy.
There are even Christmas trees, ornaments, Parlor Stoves and Coal shipped right to your door! (Amazing)
What a nostalgic look into the past via these historic pages. This is an original 77 year old catalogue, not a modern-day reprint or DVD. Measures 8-1/2" x 11" x approx. 2" thick; illustrated in both black & white, and color.
There is not time nor space to list all of the categories of goods in this catalogue. But there is everything here the collector, historian, fashion designer could possibly want to see or learn about from that era. Whatever you needed to operate your farm, decorate your home (right down to the gorgeous pastel tubs, basins and toilets) to lighting, carpets, wonderful living room sets, dining rooms, kitchens, pages and pages of jewelry, fashions, hunting and sporting goods, saddles and equine goods, etc., etc., etc.
CONDITION: Good for a paper item of this vintage. Age-toned on black and white illustrated pages. Color illustrated pages are sharp and bright. All text and illustrations are sharp and clear. Contents are complete and firmly bound, except a single page with shoes, which is present, but loose and torn. It is tucked in its place. Cover is complete and well attached, but does show wear. No brittleness, chipping, odors, stains, markings nor stuck pages at all. It looks like three pages have gone missing over the years...remnants are seen where they would attach. Perhaps they were removed long ago for someone's Christmas wish list? I simply do not know. The very bottom corner at lower margin of first page through about p.66 has a rough edge. The damage lessons page by page from minimal, to none by p. 66. This is the corner where the page number is printed, and they are obscured up to p.23. Otherwise, a clean, tight catalogue.
While at this site, please take a peek at the other books and vintage items I have listed. I often list Civil War~Victorian/Edwardian era items. I list new items daily, and would love for you to add me to your "favorite sellers" list.
IF YOU ARE THE WINNING BIDDER: IMMEDIATE communication with me following the sale is KEY. eBay has made it simple to do this. If you cannot send your payment until four days after the sale, fine. PLEASE let me know if there is some catastrophic event which will delay your payment. I DO file nonpaying bidder actions. I do not have a shop, nor store. Nor can I afford to "layaway" or extend "credit" on your item until you have the money to pay for it. If you will not be able to send payment within four days, please DO NOT BID.
I will accept credit card payments via PAYPAL. SORRY..NO E-CHECKS! If you send a personal check, it can take TEN DAYS to clear my bank (not my doing). I will not ship until your check has actually cleared my bank. US Postal Money Orders are preferred, but others are also accepted. Most all money orders will be treated as cash payments.
Delay of payment on your part does not create an "emergency" to ship rapidly on my part. Please confirm that your shipping information is current before you use the PayPal service, to insure that I have the correct mailing address for your item.
INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS: must pay via PAYPAL ONLY. Canadians may pay via Paypal OR POSTAL MONEY ORDER, in US DOLLARS. All payments, whether US or Intl., must be postmarked no later than four days following end of auction. Please indicate your item number on your payment. Thank you!
SHIPPING: If you need your item "yesterday", do not bid. I ship once a week due to my long distance from town, time consumed driving back and forth, and prohibitive gas prices. I do ship on additional days, if I happen to be close to a post office. I am retired, live in the country, and do not go into town on a daily basis. We have a rural post office which sometimes results in an extra day of transit time for your package. Your item will ship on my next shipping day, following cleared payment, not necessarily the next day following cleared payment. I use USPS shipping only.
SHIPPING EXTRAS: I offer INSURANCE option to anyone, for any cost item, as long as the USPS offers it in your locale (intl.). If you fail to insure your item, or to request a delivery confirmation, you do so at your own peril. I cannot and will not pay these expenses for you. Nor do I have the "enhanced" mail options to paste onto your package. You will actually SEE what your package costs to ship, and that I do not have any HIDDEN fees/charges included.
SHIPPING FEES: MY "HOME ON THE PRAIRIE" TECHNOLOGY: I use an antique kitchen scale to weigh your package. It is amazingly accurate. However, from time to time it may miscalculate by an ounce, or fraction thereof, which will place your postage in a higher or lower bracket. Any "overage" for postage is rare, and entirely unintended. If and when it occurs, it is generally not more than 50 cents. Postage to return that amount cancels out the difference.
Your item is sealed well in its package prior to delivery to my post office. Re-opening/resealing at the counter to slip a few cents back into the box would precipitate a riot, and therefore, is not an option. If you are the rare individual who may find lower postage on your package from me than what you were quoted, please notify me for a refund, rather than chip away at my hard earned "stars". I will lose 40 cents to send you back your 40 cents in any such event, if you soGkGk.
In the alternative, if I do not quote enough postage, I do not hold you responsible for additional postage, nor will I write you to "brag" about it, or to solicit the difference from you. Nor do I charge "Handling Fees" for packaging your item and taking it to the post office. NO NO NO! I try to quote you actual fees as closely as possible, based on the USPS chart provided online.
DELAY IN SHIPPING: If you do not know the difference among the various shipping rates for PRIORITY vs. MEDIA RATE (Painfully Slow, but a difference in DOLLARS when shipping heavy books) vs. PARCEL RATE, vs. First Class, please familiarize yourself with them at www.usps.gov
Unlike MANY sellers, I OFFER ECONOMY shipping for you to save against prohibitive shipping rates. ECONOMY means "SLOWER" (Media or Parcel Rate).
Economy also means you will not receive your item in a new, slick, ever so pretty USPS "Priority-Type" shipping box. It will arrive in a sometimes recycled, but clean, box. I recycle when I can, and use those "awful" plastic grocery bags for shock absorbers...rather than send them off to the dump for an eternity. (Plastic bags make GREAT, lightweight packaging). Used boxes, shipping envelopes, and packing saves your wallet, mine, and the environment.
Before you "dis" me on shipping time, please check the following:
1) Did YOU choose to save yourself a few dollars and request MEDIA or PARCEL rate shipping?
2) Did YOU fail to send your payment in a timely manner following the auction?
3) Did YOU send a personal check? (often take TEN DAYS to clear). I no longer accept E-Checks...insufferably slow to clear. If Paypal doesn't trust feedback, why should I? (And Paypal has more money than I DO!)
Gentle Bidders, BE NICE! Rare and unusual items don't just drop out of the sky. I will continue to share my finds on eBay, as long as I know they are appreciated; i.e. Feedback. |
