Castangia is a lesser known firm, but their quality is superb, comparable to Brioni.

Pick stitching everywhere, even the straight seams are top stitched, including the side seams on the pants.

SARTORIA CASTANGIA is the oldest Italian artisan factory. Established in 1850.

History : The Italian designer suit dates back to the period of the Italian unification in 1861. In 1850, when the Savoy dynasty was still governing the city of Cagliari, in Sardinia, while Mazzini was founding the Young Italy movement and Garibaldi was preparing for his future achievements, Castangia opened the first designer workshop for men's clothing in Italy. This marked a new era in the identity of men's designer fashion and the term "tailor" entered the language of international fashion. In the mid 19th century Giovanni Castangia already belonged to the leading business class of Italian society and supported the consolidation of the textile industry, which today is largely responsible for the world-wide fame and prestige of the "Made in Italy" name.

 These is a truly world-class garments. Each jacket is individually cut by hand. the facings are basted by hand, the collars are completely handsewn, the sleeves are attached by hand, - fourty hours of tailoring goes into each jacket. There is up to 2000 stitches just on the lapel, the jacket is hand cut, and the interlining is hand sewn, which is the best method, not fused, so the front will never "bubble".There are great details, all over, all buttonholes are reinforced with a double twisted silk thread. The lapel buttonhole is functional.  It's not a simple "off the rack" jacket, it was made just like a custom made garment, with up to 30 hours of hand work, only on the lapel there is close to 2000 stitches, hand made button holes, etc.
