Captain Willard Glazier

COPYRIGHT: 1883 with 1884 on title page
PUBLISHER: Hubbard Brothers
PAGES: 570 pages measuring 5" x 7.5"
CONDITION: Front board has gold embellishing with edgewear and corner bumping. The spine has been recovered with black binding and the original spine cloth has been laid on top. Board corners have been tinted and compressed for presentation. Inside front and rear hinges have been reinforced with white cloth binding and the headbands have been replaced. Page edges have been cleaned. No signs of previous ownership. Pages are not brittle and the book has no odors. Front cloth has very minor mottling (color loss due to age); rear board has slightly more mottling. Two illustrations are completely loose from the book but included - one of these illustrations (Burning of Chicago) has a long horizontal tear 90% across and has been repaired on the reverse side with tape that has yellowed. The old tape has been removed and the tear has been repaired with opaque archival tape that won't yellow. The front side of the illustrations shows no yellowing - no pieces are missing. All other pages and covers are tight to the spine. No pages missing (verified). This is now a solid, clean book that any history reading or history researching person will be proud to own.

The author presents a volume about the peculiar features, favorite resorts and distinguishing characteristics, of the leading cities of America. It proved of interest to thousands who could, at best, see them only in imagination, and also to others, who, visited them, would compared notes with one who made their PECULIARITIES a study for many years.
