Questions and Answers
|
Question |
Answer |
| Why is this
tank not authorized for potable water? |
Before we
send any of our refurbished products out to a customer, our
name is on the tank. This means we stand behind our
products. With that in mind, each refurbished tank is given
a strenuous cleaning and leak testing procedure. If for any
reason a tank does not pass our specifications, the tank is
not shipped. Our cleaning process consists of chemical
agents, cold and hot water, steam and pressurized water to
name a few. For each and every micro-organism to be disposed
of, we would have to heat this tank to a temperature of
greater than the manufacturers recommended heating specs.
Since this bottle is made of polyethylene (plastic), the
integrity of the tank would be jeopardized. If you are
wanting a tank that is authorized for potable water, please
see one of my other potable tank listings. |
| |
|
| |
|
| What is the
maximum authorized temperature for this tank? |
150 degrees. |
| |
|
| |
|
| Can these
tanks be stacked when full? |
Yes, up to
three high, if your forklift is strong enough. |
| |
|
| |
|
| What is the
empty weight of this tank and what would the weight be if it
were full? |
The tare
weight, or empty weight, of this tank is approximately 200
lbs. If you are filling this tank with water, the weight of
water is 8.33 lbs. per gallon. At a capacity of 330 gallons
you are looking at 2748 lbs. of water, plus the tank itself
at 200 lbs. equals a total of 2948 lbs. |
| |
|
| |
|
| What kind of
shut off valve options do I have? |
The tank
comes standard with a 2" valve on the bottom of the tank.
Your options, at no additional charge, are a 2" NPT
(national pipe thread) valve or a Cam-Lock (quick
disconnect) valve. If you are unsure what "Cam-Lock" is, I
would suggest you stick with the 2" NPT valve. You can go to
any plumbing or hardware store and get fittings that will
fit the 2" male thread NPT valve. |
| |
|
| |
|
| How do I know
that this tank will not leak? |
Each of our
tanks are cleaned as mention earlier. After they are
cleaning, each tank is leak tested with air. The bottle is
removed from the cage and 3 pounds per square inch of air is
pumped into the bottle. Even thought the bottle has a
rectangular shape, once the bottle is full of air it
actually resembles that of a ball. The bottle must hold the
air inside the tank for a period of 1-2 minutes. During the
time the bottle is holding the air, the bottle itself is
sprayed around the whole tank with special emphasis on the
valve and the valve connection with a soapy water solution.
If there is any air escaping the location is found and
either the tank is scrapped and recycle for the plastic or
if it is a connection issue with the valve, the valve is
replaced and the leak testing process is started again. |

|
| |
|
| How are these
tanks shipped? |
I would love
to be able to ship these tanks to you in the back of a
postal vehicle, but they are just too big. These tanks must
be shipped by a freight carrier of some sort. Most of the
time they are 18-wheelers that transport them. To get an
idea about shipping, take a look at the "freight calculator"
below. Sometimes the rates that eBay gives are pretty good,
sometimes they are not. Please contact me directly for a
freight rate if you are not happy with eBay's answer. |

|
| |
|
| Can these
tanks be used for bio-diesel? |
Yes they can.
As a matter of fact I have quite a few customers who buy my
tanks specifically for that. |
| |
|
| |
|
| Can these
tanks be used for transporting gasoline or Jet fuel? |
No they
cannot. |
| |
|
| |
|
| Can these
tanks be used for pressure washing? Do I need an additional
pump between my pressure washer and the tank? |
Yes they can
be used for pressure washing. As far as the pump is
concerned, when this tank is full there is 2000+ pounds of
pressure being exerted on the valve. When the valve is
opened the water flow is very impressive and there is no
need for an additional pump. However, as the tanks water
level gets lower, the amount of pressure begins to fade.
When you get down the last few gallons you might want to
have a pump for assistance, or you can just put more water
in the top of the tank. |

|
| |
|
| Can I pick up
a tank at one of your locations to avoid shipping charges? |
Yes you can.
You are welcome to come by anyone of my locations to pick up
your tank. Please give me call ahead of time so I can ensure
your tank or tanks are ready for you to pick up. A good rule
of thumb is 24 hours in advance. Also, my North Carolina
plant is the only plant that is set up to take funds. All
other plants must be done over the phone or through paypal. |

|
| If these
questions and answers did not answer my question, can I call
someone? |
Absolutely.
Give me a call directly and I will do my best to answer each
and everyone of your questions.

Chesser Container's
cleaning procedures for refurbished and laundered IBC's.
Due to hazards of certain regulated materials, it is Chesser Container's
strict policy that no IBC’s entering our facility will be recertified without first being thoroughly cleaned inside and out. Each IBC will be inspected once entering our facility and an assessment will be made of each to determine what parts and labor issues will be needed. This process is used for production scheduling and parts determination.
Chesser Container's
recertification process begins with a complete cleaning of the inside and outside of the IBC. All exterior labels are removed as part of the cleaning process. This cleaning process consists of any or all of the following: cold water, hot water, steam, and chemical cleaning agents. The valve and lid are removed prior to cleaning and are cleaned separately by hand and/or machinery. If the valve and lid are serviceable after the cleaning process, the valve and lid will then be replaced. The IBC is again inspected and completely dried of all condensation. The IBC is then tested in accordance with CFR 49 Section 180.352 – Requirements for retest and inspection of IBC’s. Word for word documentation on CFR 49 Section 180-352 is available upon request.
Shipping Information
Each item sold by “Chesser Container” has different weights and a different shipping class. Prior to bidding on an item, take time to look at each item separately. If it is a small part, UPS, FEDEX, or USPS can handle the item for standard package shipment prices. If the item is a tank then it must be handled by a trucking freight company.
Tote Tank Ordering Information
Each order must include
valve type (cam-lock, NPT, or buttress) and name and phone number for contact
purposes. If you are wanting a tank shipped to a residential location a service
charge is assessed to me by the freight companies therefore I must pass that on
to you. The optimum shipping location is a business with a loading dock.
Of course you are more than welcome to pick it up at one of our locations yourself.
