Beautifully restored, vintage door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It’s made of solid pine and features an arrangement of 15 true-divided, wavy glass lites. The door is also fully equipped with hardware.
Restoration: At the point of salvage, the door was found with original finish,
1 broken lite, 1 deadbolt hole, 1 broken mullion, 9 pieces of broken molding, nail holes, and equipped only with a mortise lock
and mail door. Since then, we’ve stripped the finish and sanded the door; we replaced the broken lite;
made and added molding; patched the deadbolt hole, filled the nail holes;
and added knobs and plates.
Please note that the replacement lite was custom cut from antique windows we salvaged from around our area.
All repairs were made using antique pine, and they only look new because the
pieces were cut from deeper portions of the wood. Once stained, all original
and repaired parts would blend together.
Hardware: We
added a pair of brass knobs and brass-plated iron escutcheons. We also made
a key to operate the mortise lock and could make more
--see details under
"Additional Services" below. The door was hung with surface-mounted
strap hinges. This is a great feature if you are planning on using
side-mounted hinges. Since the sides haven’t been mortised for hinges, you
could place your hinges wherever you like without having to patch or work
around pre-existing holes. This also means you determine which way the door
will swing.
Condition: The door is sturdy and in great shape.
There are only a few, tiny chips along the upper and lower edges (see last 2
photos for a visual). Otherwise, we fixed all of the major flaws, so there’s nothing left to do but finish and install.
Considering that this is a solid wood door, complete with old wavy glass and
hardware, and then considering all of the work that went into restoring this
piece, you are getting quite a bargain!

Additional Services:
1.
Framing: We could make a pine frame for the door for $220.
With the frame built, all you would have to do is finish the frame with the
paint or stain of your choice, and then connect the 3 parts of the frame and
attach the door to the frame. Framing requires precise measuring and
cutting; with this step out of the way, installation would be much easier
and quicker.
2. Height Change: We could cut the door
to make it shorter for $25/cut, and we could also add to
it, to make it taller for $40/addition. Please note that if we add to the door, the
addition would be very noticeable if stained, and is only recommended if you
are going to paint the door or stain it a dark color.
3. Width Change: We could cut the doors
to make them narrower for $40/cut, and we could also add to them, to make
them
wider for $60/addition. Please note that if we
add to the doors, the addition would be very noticeable if stained, and is
only recommended if you are going to paint the doors.
4. Finishing: We could stain and seal the door for you for $175. Our finisher has worked with wood for decades and
has done numerous staining jobs; he's very good.
5. Skeleton Keys: We could make additional copies for
$5/key.
