The many illustrations in the book, plus twenty-one 3-D pictures included on three View-Master reels add a visual accomplishment to the text.

I might have said this too many times, but is is true!  THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE STEREO BOOKS!  I bought this book in 1988 when I was getting started in stereo and thoroughly enjoyed it and recommended it to my stereo friends.  Now I have imported a small quantity from The Netherlands for sale in the USA.

I honestly believe that this book has the most accurate, and best illustrated concise history of stereoscopic imaging!  Just look at the Table of Contents below and some of the pages reproduced here.

With his 25 years of experience as a modern stereo photographer and as a collector of historic three-dimensional items, the author introduces you into the fascinating world of 3-D (stereoscopic) Photographs of past and present.  Looking back in history with 3D images from the past, the stereoscope gives us an illusion of a time machine.  Modern 3-D equipment enables us to see into worlds which are not part of our everyday visual experience.

Only 3D can reproduce the head of a cat as lifelike as it is.  One of the slides of 3D specialist Hugo de Wijs, taken with a macro stereo camera with lenses only 15mm apart.
