tigspt's Unique Estate Finds Wood Working Tools     This week I will be selling lots of wood working, carving, sharpening tools. All from a local estate sale in San Jose. Most are unused (or with very little use) and were purchased from Wood Carvers Supply. This auction is for a lot of 4 carvers strop sharpening compounds. These abrasive compounds make strops and wheels cut tool steel to achieve a highly polished razor edge. To use, rub compound bar into strop surface. To switch compounds, apply over previous. White, fast cutting, sticks best to surface. Used for charging felt, cotton & leather wheels & strops. Yellow compound (sometimes sold as knife makers’ “secret” compound) is fast cutting, dry & leaves practically no residue on tool edge. A good all around compound, it leaves a brilliantly polished razor edge. This one is in 2 pieces. There is also a white (fast cutting), green (fine finish) and red oxide (finest finish) sharpening compound. They each come in their individual box.
