This is a very special and rare authentic Turkish handicraft made by using a sewing needle (not the crochet needles)
Needlework crafts have entered the world literature, as "Turkish Lacework" which resembles to the lacework at first sight.
It is a kind of exquisite needlework which has been created in different parts of Anatolia since the 17th century, comprises of the weaving of silken thread with a needle.
Patterns are created by knotting the high quality thread with small needles.
An indication of patience, the creative capacity and the refined taste of the Turkish woman. It may be used on the borders for the adornment of scarves, hankies, money bags, chokers and of men and women clothes. The most striking feature of this special type of weaving is its three dimensional appearance.
This Turkish handicraft whose specimens we have encountered for 200 - 250 years is still being used in home fashion accessories like the hankerchief, the scarf and in home decoration i.e. on cushions and bedspreads.
