On first use just melt the shaving soap in a microwave-safe dish for about 45 seconds (watch it carefully, microwaves vary considerably), and pour into the mug. Let cool for at least an hour or so or until hardened. When ready to shave, place the brush in the mug and fill with hot tap water. Let set a minute or two to heat up the mug, soap, and brush. Wet your face with warm water. Pour water out of the mug, shake water out of the brush and whip up your lather in the mug in a matter of seconds.
