The county is also home to the Navajo Nation and the Hopi Tribe. Many of the important events in the history of the American West also transpired nearby.

The climate is generally mild with 300 days of sunshine a year. World class recreational opportunities are available in Navajo County along with the convenience of shopping and services located in charming Flagstaff in neighboring Coconino County only 102 miles away. The major communities in Navajo County include Holbrook 12 miles away (the county seat), Winslow 45 miles away (made famous by the Eagles song), and beautiful Show Low 60 miles away.
