TIPS FOR
PREVENTING & REMOVING CLOGGED
INK PREVENTION IS WORTH A HANDFUL OF GRAY HAIR First if you keep ink in your cartridges at all times it should prevent print nozzles from drying out. If you're going through a period when you are away from your printer or not doing a lot of printing, put a sticky on your computer, or on your fridge, or on your calendar to remind you to run a print test once a month. Simple spray test will keep things moving nicely and save you from headaches later on. When
storing any ink cartridge outside of your printer, always store
it in a plastic bag. As I have stated somewhere else on this
website, I use a ziplock, and as I am closing it, I push the
air out, then use a straw to pull the rest of the air out and
then finish pressing it closed. It will look vacuum
packed. CLOGGED
INK NOZZLES Get a shallow dish of warm, DISTILLED water or ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, and place the printerhead in it so that only the print nozzles are submerged. Watch it for a few minutes, and you will see the dried ink start to flow out of the nozzles. When you no longer see ink flowing out, remove it from the solution. Then rinse out the dish and refill it, repeat the process until no ink flows out of the printhead. When you no longer see ink coming out, remove the printhead, and using a soft cotton tissue or lint free cloth, carefully, gently rub the printhead clean. For dried ink cartridges, fill a shallow dish with warm ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, submerge the cartridges and swish around gently till all the ink flows free. Remove them from the solution and dry the outside with a lintfree clothe, avoid touching the ink outflow pad. Then let them sit till the insides are dry. Then fill them with ink. |
