50's 3 piece drum kit

     You are looking at a late 50's 3 piece drum set in excellent condition.  These drums are beautifully restored and quite clean.  Gretsch maketed drum sets that were intended for use by the working drummer who wanted quick and easy set up called the "one nighter".  These unique kits were sold without a floor tom and included a bass drum mounted cymbal holder.  These little kits were easy to set up and used very little space. 

     This particular drum set is in the color 'midnight blue pearl' and has been restored to like new condition.   The finish had turned a bit green over the 50 years it has lived but now is back to the original beautiful finish.  The drums were disassmbled and wet sanded through several grits of paper from 600-1200 and the finished with 3 different levels of polish designed for scratch removal of plasticcs.  They are in "like new" condition.  These drums do not have the silver sealer since they were produced before Gretsch added this  to the manufacturing process.  There are still markings on the inside of the maple shells which were put on the drums in the factory to mark holes for drilling. All the hardware is nice and clean with only minimal oxidation.  They are beautiful and shine like new.

     There are a few unfortunate items I must share with you.  The snare drum doesn't have the original badge and grommet.  A correct fit grommet has been installed.  The bass drum hoops have been painted and some paint has gotten on the inlays.  The 13" tom has Pearl replacement hoops because the original hoops struggle to fit modern drum heads.  I do have the cymbal arm and it is very clean.  It does however have no cymbal felts, wing nut, or washers. 

     To recap;  These are great condition 50's Gretsch drums including a 20"x14"  bass drum, 13"x 9" tom, and 14"x 5" microsensitve snare.  Drums are in nicely restored condition with a couple of missing items as described.  Included are then bass spurs and a cymbal mount for the bass drum.  One can find the missing grommet and badge for the snare and I will list the original tom hoops soon.  All other original parts are there and in nice condition. The drums have been outfitted with new heads from Remo and Evans and are ready to play.
