About the artist:

 A highly talented artist in his own right, Vaughan Bass began his career in pin-up art by over-painting Gil Elvgren's work for the Louis F. Dow Company. So skillful were his modifications that they could be reused without being recognized as prior publications. Bass' own work resembles that of Elvgren, although occasionally it is somewhat more detailed. Some of his women were placed in highly finished interiors that augmented the charm and sensuality of the scene. Many of his captivating females were engaged in mundane activities such as ironing or reading, while other images had a more exotic flavor sometimes with a Mexican or Spanish theme. Bass' work appeared on calendars and countless other advertising items, such as blotters, ashtrays and matchbook covers.
