Great for new instrument fret-work, repair work, Cigar Box Guitars, etc!
This same amount of fret wire would cost you $18.19 shipped if you tried to
order it direct from the supplier Stewart-MacDonald!
Here is a nice set of 6 feet of "WIDE/MEDIUM-gauge" fret wire in handy 8-inch lengths. Six feet is more than enough for a standard guitar or bass, and you could probably fret two smaller instruments with this much fret wire, if you are careful. This fret wire is designated as "wide/medium" due to the wide crown width, medium crown height, and deep "tang" depth (see measurements below). This is premium fret wire from Stewart-MacDonald (#149), so you know it's quality!
I also include a sheet of fretting "do's and don'ts" to help the first-time fretter get started, at no extra charge! This sheet contains a lot of useful how-to, things to avoid, and advice. If you want a more in-depth guide, check out my separate fretting guide listing!
Can be used on all sorts of acoustic and electric guitars, basses, cigar box guitars and various other fretted stringed instruments, anything that requires a wider fret wire with medium height. The 8-inch lengths allow you to easily cut the exact lengths you need.
Here are the technical specs on this fret wire (see the photo diagram for more info):
Crown Width: .103" (2.62mm) Crown Height: .046" (1.16mm) Tang Depth: .067" (1.70mm)
A slot width of .023" is recommended for this fret wire, but somewhat wider may work if you use glue to set the frets in. Be sure to measure the width of your current frets before bidding, to make sure this set will fit your intended usage!
Thank you for looking and bidding!
A word about best value vs. cheapest price...
Even if other eBayers occasionally list fret wire for $.50 less than I
do, I stand by my claim that my offer is the best VALUE on eBay. Not
only do I take the time to make sure my listing is accurate,
spell-checked and well-formatted, but I also include my "do's and
don'ts" sheet, crammed full of tips and resources, and places you can
go for more information. Finally, I am available by e-mail to answer
questions as best I can for anyone who buys fret wire from me and needs
advice. I certainly cannot answer every question authoritatively, but
at the very least I can recommend where to go for more information.
With me, you can be sure that your fret wire will be well packaged, will
ship within 1 business day of your order, and will get to you as fast
as USPS first class mail can deliver it.
P.S. A note about me... I am an amateur builder of cigar box guitars, diddleybows, hubcap and cookie tin banjos, washtub basses, and other homemade instruments. I love being able to create simple instruments that can make really good, honest music. The proceeds of these fret wire sets go right back into purchasing materials and tools. I am not doing this to get rich or make huge profits - just trying to make a little bit back on my various musical 'investments' so my wife doesn't kick me out. I try to approach this "business" as honestly and forth-rightly as I can. I never want to send out something to someone that I myself wouldn't be pleased to receive, if the roles were reversed. If there is ever an issue, just contact me. I am sure we can work out something that is acceptable to both sides. At the very least, just send the item back for a full refund of the purchase price (minus shipping costs). Thanks again for looking, and I look forward to doing business with you.
Be sure to also check out my other auctions, including my 40-page Fretting Guide on CD, to help you make your first fret job a successful one!
