These are limited edition prints (Giclee on paper) for selected original paintings, the Flower series, with natural mineral on paper by the Chinese artist Yao Shun Xi (Shunxi Yao). Each print is published on high quality archival paper and signed by the artist. These prints are numbered 32 out of a total of 100 produced for each painting in the series. They are unframed. Yao was born in 1961 in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China. He began studying in the China Central Academy of Fine Art (CAFA) in Beijing as an undergraduate student in Chinese Painting in early 1980s. He went on to obtain his bachelor, master and doctorate degrees in Chinese Painting there in 1985, 1994 and 2007 respectively.
Yao is currently an Associate Professor and a Supervisor of Graduate Students at CAFA. He also serves as the Director of the Research Office for Premium Programs at the Institute of Chinese Painting, CAFA. He is a member of International Paintings and Calligraphy Research Society of China and Chinese Artists Association. He is also the Deputy Director of Fuzhou Seal Club, China.
Shunxi Yao has been trained at the top Chinese institute for fine arts, the China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), throughout his undergraduate, graduate and doctorate studies. The original styles of his artist creation represent the transition from traditional to contemporary Chinese "Flower-Bird" painting”. With his unique theories on painting and his expressive artist characters, he has developed many new academic concepts, transcending the culture systems of symbolism in the traditional Chinese art of painting.
Yao's artist creation of fine brushwork with heavy colors (natural mineral on paper) represents his original style and artist creativity at their best. His red and blue series of artwork showcase the unique auspicious style which has been studied and followed by many artists in China. Many of his other work also represnt the surrealist tyle.
