DESCRIPTION:
Being offered today is a wonderful 6 piece cut glass cordial set, signed Libbey with a sword, in Libbey's #5 pattern, which includes a handled decanter on a small pedestal and 5 cut glass stems. Libbey's #5 pattern is a relatively simple pattern which is essentially a crosscut diamond and fan pattern with crosshatching. The decanter is approximately 10 3/4" tall with the stopper and is approximately 5 1/2" wide inclusive of the handle. The stems are 3 7/8" x 2 1/2". The handle on the decanter is triple notched and does NOT have any heat checks. The stopper is cut in a full cut scalloped hobstar. I have found no signature on the stopper, but the fit is flawless. The stems all have two lapidary knobs and have rayed bases. The rims and bases have their original annealed edges. The decanter is in outstanding condition. There is NO staining within the bottle and the lip of the jug feels original. The base has a full cut hobstar and looks original as well. I have priced this item with a very reasonable reserve. The fluorescence of these pieces is consistent with the characteristics elucidated in the December 2006 edition of the Hobstar, a greenish color in this instance, a publication produced by the American Cut Glass Association, as one of the methods for determining the authenticity of glass from the brilliant period of American cut glass.
MONETARY AND SHIPPING GUIDELINES:
I accept/prefer payment by money order, cashiers check, and/or personal check. I can accept paypal as a payment method but, because of the fees involved, I prefer any of the other payment methods suggested above. If paypal is your payment method, please email me first. I ship by UPS and require a valid shipping address. If you desire a different shipping method, please let me know. The successful bidder will be responsible for all shipping and insurance charges which will be $25. Because of my work schedule, I generally ship on the weekend following receipt of payment.
AUCTION GUIDELINES:
Please take a few moments to read and fully understand the following few lines so there will be NO misunderstandings after the auction ends. I strongly encourage you to ask ALL questions prior to placing a bid. Remember that the only stupid question is the one not asked. I will do my best to point out any obvious "apologies" in the glass I sell. If you are the successful bidder at auction end, I will assume you are satisfied with what you have purchased. I DO NOT sell on approval. All items are sold as is, as found, and all may be subject to prior sale. I accept returns ONLY if I have grossly misrepresented an item. Thank you for looking at my auction and good luck.
