DESCRIPTION:
60 Rare Earth DISC Magnets
60 BRAND NEW, amazingly strong, RARE EARTH
NEODYMIUM magnets. They are triple plated, NiCuNi, grade 36, licensed NdFeB, with
beveled edges that help prevent chipping and breakage. These
DISC magnets lend themselves very well to therapeutic
applications of magnetic fields on the body. I have both smaller and
larger sizes of
DISC
magnet available on eBay for a wide variety of therapeutic applications. One small round band-aid
can effectively hold a DISC magnet in place.
(see pictures below)

Each DISC includes a very small divot, marking
the North-Seeking Pole, as seen in the image above.

A common application of
magnetic therapy is on the wrist. Many find relief from the pain of
arthritis, carpal tunnel, cramps and more with the application of a magnetic
field in the area of the wrist.
In our family history,
magnetic therapy has also been found to
accelerate the healing process of broken bones. A physically active
family is often happy to have magnets handy to help with the "pain" of
the "gain"!
Most authors, who have written about
the therapeutic applications of a magnetic field, indicate the proper pole of
the magnet to use for treatment of the various types of ailments that are
discussed. Unfortunately, the discussion of "which pole is
which", often ends up leaving the reader confused. I find the
simplest way to clearly define which pole is which is to use the words
"north" and "south" in reference to the geography of the
earth and include the word "seeking" when defining each magnet pole. Thus,
each magnet has a north-seeking pole and a south-seeking pole. Basically,
since all of us agree which physical pole of the earth is called the north pole
and we all tend to agree which general direction the north pole would be from us
where ever we are, we can use the combination of these factors to always be
clear which end of a magnet is which. If a magnet is given some freedom of
movement, one pole will point toward the north pole of the earth and then would
be clearly defined as the "north-seeking" pole of the
magnet. My 0.4" DISC magnets include a very small divot, marking the
North-Seeking side and making
it much easier to keep track of which side is which.
The issue that remains is to clarify what
a magnetic therapy author means when the north or south poles of an applied
magnet are
discussed. Fortunately, there are very few situations that would
cause harm to an individual while using the incorrect side of a magnet. If
a pole of a magnet is used therapeutically and the incorrect side is applied,
most authors indicate that little or no effect is obtained and without incurring any kind
of harm from the magnetic treatment. With this in mind it is
simple enough to try one side of a magnet and if beneficial effects are not
obtained, then turn the magnet over and cover with a band-aid. Of course we all
have a 50% chance of getting it right the first time!
Applications of
magnets:
How
powerful are these MAGNETS?
Each DISC magnet can
hold up to 6lbs of iron!
That's over
3600 times it's weight!
(See images
below.)
If you have never met a
rare earth magnet before you probably cannot imagine the amount of magnetic strength
that is
packed into such a small chunk of metal. Folks frequently ask me "what do you do with
magnets?" I tend to feel like the answer to this question is very much like responding to:
"What do you do with Duct Tape?" How many of us have actually used duct
tape to tape heating or cooling ducts? Yet many of us would swear that duct tape is one of the
handiest inventions of modern times. How would you begin to list the uses
for Duct Tape? The uses for such a versatile material are
endless... and similar is the case with super strong NEODYMIUM magnets!
"How strong are these rare earth magnets?" is
another question I am asked frequently and have been reluctant to answer due to the
many variables involved in coming up with a clear answer, not to mention how
misleading an answer can be. Have you ever handled a magnet that claims to
lift up to 150lbs but will not lift 5lb items that are rounded? Neodymium
magnets can do what ceramic assemblies cannot. Now I can offer some
reliable, standardized force-pull test results for various sizes of neodymium magnets. These test results are basically a "best
case scenario" for the amount of hold the magnet has on a thick piece of
iron. The weight is being held straight in line with the pulling down
force of gravity. Be clear that a magnet stuck vertically on the fridge
will only be able to hold a fraction of the weight that it can hold in the
horizontal position as seen in picture of the testing.
Below the
image verifies that one of the small 0.4" DISC magnets can hold
6lbs!

6lbs =
2724 grams, (454 grams per pound)
Each of
these DISC magnets weighs only
0.75 grams
One of
these small DISC magnet can hold over 3600 times it's weight!
[2724
divided by 0.75 = 3632]
In addition to
therapeutic applications, there's all kinds of other uses
for compact super strong magnets! These thin magnets will hold most items
to the fridge far better than the ceramic magnets commonly used for this
purpose. If you have items that slide down the fridge when the door
closes, a drop of glue and one of these magnets will likely remedy this
problem!
It is truly educational, fun and somewhat
magical to explore this modern magnetic technology. New applications of
neodymium magnets occur frequently as possibilities are now present that were not
previously considered. Discovery and invention may be yours to
contribute! Most of us
remember our early magnet experiences fondly. When you first experience rare earth
magnets, it may rekindle some of those early experiences of wonder, and
more!

MAGNET
CAUTIONS: Please read before buying.
Seller
assumes no responsibility for injury or damages caused by the rare earth
magnets.
Use caution
handling strong magnets. The neodymium magnets are brittle and can chip or break
if they are allowed to smack together.
The smacking of magnets can be avoided by sliding them apart as well as sliding
them back together. These magnets are capable of pinching
the skin. You must not get them too close to tapes, wind-up watches, credit
cards, floppy discs, etc.; (3" is a safe distance). Neodymium magnets can cause
permanent damage to older TVs and other electronic equipment; (10" is a safe
distance).
Anyone using a pacemaker
should consult
a physician.
