Elegant antique door salvaged from lower Michigan. It’s made of solid oak and has a large beveled glass lite. All of the original hardware is included.
At the point of salvage, the door was in excellent, original condition. We didn’t have to do any work to it. However, some how it ended up in our workshop and a couple of drops of stripper landed on it and removed the beautiful reddish stain in a few spots. We attempted to re-stain the spots, but it didn’t look right, so we completely stripped the door. Now, you have a blank canvas to work with. You could stain or paint it any color you like. Before we stripped it, we used it to model some of our hardware; refer to the last photo to see how it looked like.
It’s truly remarkable to see such a large, old beveled glass lite completely intact and free of any cracks, chips, or noticeable scratches. Also notable is the great condition of the hardware. We removed the 3 brass plated hinges, 2 brass knobs, 2 brass escutcheons, and mortise lock and cleaned them up a bit. We only removed the surface dirt, but preserved the patina. The lock was cleaned internally and works even better now. The cylinder lock is fully functional, but is without keys. We could save you a trip to the locksmith for an additional $20. Just let us know after the auction.
It’s very rare to find a door of this size, condition, and quality—especially now-a-days when your door choices are hollow, steel, MDF, or particle board. Don’t miss this rare opportunity!
