Item Description: This is a gorgeous 7.5ft tall antique English mahogany carved
bookcase bookshelf.
It has a beautiful beveled cornice and it features a large cabinet with glass doors which are decorated
with gorgeous pear carvings on top and fluted sides, and it has an attractive oval handle with decorative
hardware. Inside it has four shelves, three which are removable and adjustable with an elegant bead
board paneling back. Though some of its shelves are adjustable they are missing some of their supports
and they have nails instead and they also have some small nails on their back which appear to have been
used for displaying plates. The bottom shelf seems to have inactive worm holes but they can easily be
covered with fabric or wallpaper. The glass of one of the doors has some flaws but it doesn’t distract
from the overall elegance of the piece. This bookshelf has two smooth operating drawers that are
well constructed with dovetail joinery and they have curved facings with beautiful carved peaches and
very attractive handles with exquisite decorative hardware.
The cabinet has four shelves and though
one of them has a wood separation it is strong and useful as it is. Its doors are paneled and they are
richly decorated with foliage and pear carvings over a beveled raised surface, and they also have
attractive oval brass handles. Inside they’re missing small wood trims but they’re not distracting at all.
This bookshelf has paneled sides and it is decorated with foliage and fluted accents. It may have some
age appropriate wood imperfections but they really just add character and patina to the piece, otherwise
it is overall in good cosmetic and structural condition considering its age, circa 1890! It is very strong
and sturdy. This is a gorgeous piece of furniture that will not only enrich your home décor with its
presence but will also become a treasured heirloom in your family!

What is patina? If an object is described as having a fine patina it's usually
meant as a compliment. If something is said to lack patina, it usually means the object lacks
character. Patina is everything that happens to an object over the course of time. The nick in
the leg of a table, a scratch on a table top, the loss of moisture in the paint, the crackling of a finish or a
glaze in ceramics, the gentle wear patterns on the edge of a plate. All these things add up to create a
softer look, subtle color changes, a unique character that has value. Patina is built from all the effects,
natural and man-made, that create a true antique.
Sold in As-Is Condition: Please keep in mind that this piece is an antique or later period
piece and is sold in 'as-is' condition. Buyers of antiques know that the character of old furniture is often
exhibited in the unique way it shows its age. We try to fully describe each piece in an attempt to let you
know exactly what you will be receiving. To further clarify each item, we include detailed and close-up
photos that frequently exaggerate wear and tear in a way that is not representative of how the item will
appear under typical casual observation in your home or office. Close-up photos often cause the finish
color to appear lighter or surface imperfections to appear larger or more severe than when the item is
viewed directly. The primary image is most often the best representation of color and overall
appearance. We carefully select each item for quality and value with our customer in mind. If you have
any questions at all, please do not hesitate to email us. Any minor or major wear that has been
mentioned has already been taken into account and factored into the price. Buy with confidence at our
extremely low starting price.
