This is a very rare and vintage AM/FM radio. Before the days of standard FM (frequency modulation) radio, this little unit was used in an existing 8 track cassette player to pick up AM and FM stations. Since the power output for FM stations was very low, you were lucky to get one, unless you lived near a large city, then you could get the true "stereo" effect of FM, but most cars back then only had one speaker, so you could receive the stereo signal, but you could not distinguish it between mono AM. Thank God for the 21st Century, where nearly all vehicles come standard with FM radio! And as many as 6 speakers! This little jewel was nice to have, and drew a crowd back in the 60's, once placed in an 8 track player! It is from the GRT Corp. of Sunnyvale, CA. and is over 40 years old, and did work when last used about 40 years ago. A 9 volt battery is placed in the battery compartment, and the vehicles antenna is then plugged into the front, and presto! This came with a coiled cord with a reducer connection on one end to connect the antenna plug, but it has been long gone... The red button on the front is spring loaded and selects AM or FM. The station selector turns very smoothly. Although the box has seen some wear, the unit itself is in excellent shape, with just a couple of minor dings.
