Special SECRET uses:
1) Invisible "Keyhole": Arrange several in a pattern and make a special matching "key" with magnets similarly arranged and glued to an aluminum plate or box. You can even mold your own key in plastic.
2) Hide a switch behind an aluminum or plastic panel for completely invisible keyless control. Far better than not knowing where the switch is, they'll never even know a secret switch exists! A magnet hidden in a stuffed toy on top of your computer can grant access when placed discretely over the hidden reed switch. Move the toy back an inch when you go on break and the snoops will never catch on.
3) Here's a real FUN use. I used a switch as a secret reset in a custom PANIC Button box. I left it laying around for the impulsive types to press the irresistible big red button and trigger the alarm. Rivet the aluminum box shut so they have no clue on how to turn the !%#@*& thing off. [ Drill out the rivets to replace the battery when necessary.] One unsuspecting victim pressed the button and eventually stuffed it under a sofa cushion to muffle it. On another occassion, I was surprised to find it buzzing away on my testbench when I arrived at work. Several days later, the night security guard admitted to falling victim during his building rounds.
Label the button: 'Do NOT Press,' 'In Case of Panic Press Here,' or simply 'Press Here.' What would you suggest?
This basic PANIC Button Schematic is intended for reference only. Values may need adjustment depending on your SCR and Siren. This auction is for the magnetic switches only.
4) Hang a magnet on your key chain and hide a magnetic switch behind the tinted glass or a fiberglass fender to arm/disarm your car alarm. [Or, mount it at your pants pocket level, and put a stronger magnet in your pocket and just brush up against the fender.]
5) Glue a magnet to a rotating shaft, wheel, etc. and position the magnetic switch to count rotations.
6) Hold a seance with a magnet taped to your palm. Lay your hands on the table and with the help of a hidden switch below, the lights will flicker.
7) Stick a magnet on your Model Train Engine and mount a switch between the tracks for a train approach indicator at street crossings.
8) Make a wind direction indicator.
9) Hidden garage door opener. Carry an old speaker magnet in your pocket when working out in the garden.
10) Hide one behind the fiberglass for a secret waterproof ignition / 'dead man' switch in your power boat.
11) Float a magnet in a fuel tank and make an external level monitor with spaced switches. Keep the wiring and electricity out of the tank.
