Many buyers came to us with the question
of how to put a more powerful antenna on
their WiFi devices (wireless router, PCI
card, PCMCIA adapter), yet it does not
occupy much desktop space and be able to
stretch to a sweet spot for optimal
signal reception. They solved the
problem by using this +9.5dBi high
performance Omni antenna sitting on a
magnetic base with 6ft
RP-SMA
pigtail.
Indeed it really makes a pretty big
difference between an antenna installed
at a PC under a desk and the same
antenna that could reach out for "fresh
air". The desk and the wall could be an
obstruction getting in the WiFi
transmission path that incurs
substantial signal loss. You might be
able to enjoy more stable and speedier
connection if you could get around this
problem.
What's more? You could cascade
a slim +27dBm
(500mW) 802.11g RF amplifer pen booster
between the +9.5dBi Omni antenna and the
magnetic base if you need more horse
power in the future - see diagram on the
right.
