Description

This extrem rare Stone Age artifact is called
" Microlith core unipolar conical ",
occurs in the Svardborg-Period of the Maglemose Culture 8900-6400 bc.
Cores are blocks of flint which flakes have repeatedly been struck from the same side. In the more highly developed flaking technique the core is more frequently conical or cylindrical, though sometimes oblong, with striking platforms at one end (Handled Cores). Often the cores are carefully shaped before flaking begins. Good cores display parallel, fairly regular scars, in most instances all the way round.
These kind of cores have been used for the production of Microliths.
Microlith is a term common to a number of small artefacts of flint, differing considerably in form and presumably put to many different uses.
A feature common to them all is that they are made of micro-blades or, and especially in the earliest cultures, of small, narrow flakes; next, one or more edges are shaped by blunting from one side.
They are called right or left microliths, according to whether the unblunted ecge lies to the right or left when the point is forward and the specimen lies on the primary flaking scar.
They have been points for arrows, barbs for spears and arrows,
and perhaps as small knives.
Length of this fantastic core is 65 mms.
Wonderful marble-like flint with fossil includings!!!
Provenance is an old collection.
More details will follow the artifact.
I guarentee absolutely for the authenticity of this
artifact from the Hunter Gatherer Stone Age.
