CD'S Quality &
Ratings
We do our best to provide an accurate description within each
auction.
Many of our CDs are NEW, and many of our CDs are LIKE NEW.
Every
auction will clearly state whether the CD will include original artwork
and original jewel case. All CDs are shipped with a jewel
case. If
the original case is cracked or broken, we will replace it with a new
replacement jewel case. Every CD is bubble-wrapped for
protection
while shipping. Use the following guide to get a
better understanding
of our CD ratings.
New - A
new CD means NEW, unplayed and almost always these are factory sealed
but since we buy store sell-outs, we occasionally get brand new CDs
with cases that are visibly cracked or broken. When we see
this, we
open the CD and replace the case with a brand new exact replacement
jewel case. NEW CDs will have no signs of scratches or
smudges on
the CD surface.
Like New -
You
could easily mistake this CD for new but it won't come sealed - and it
always includes upper & lower artwork in the original jewel
case.
Excellent -
Will have very minimal surface scuffing or very insignificant
scratches but will always play
perfectly.
Very Good -
Will have light surface scuffing or very light scratches but
will play
perfectly.
Good - May
show considerable scuffing or scratches but has been tested to play
fine without skipping.
NOTE: There are 100's of different CD players. Even when a CD plays
fine on our CD player, it may sound poorly or skip on yours. Because of this we
offer the following guarantee:
If for
any reason you are less than 100% satisfied with the quality of your purchase,
you may return the CD for a full refund at our expense.
In order to receive a
refund you MUST CONTACT US via E-MAIL prior to leaving negative feedback. If we
are unable to make you happy then please feel free to leave appropriate feedback.

| | Album notes | Personnel: Natalie Merchant (vocals, piano, organ, vibraphone); Jennifer Turner (electric & acoustic guitars, background vocals); John Holbrook (electric guitar, organ); Matt Henderson (electric guitar, bass); Eric Schenkman (electric guitar); Jay Unger (violin); Michelle Kinney (cello); Barrie Maguire (bass, 12-string electric guitar); Peter Yanowitz (drums, percussion); Adrian Lopez Guevarra, Randy Grant (percussion); Katell Keineg (background vocals). Recorded at Bearsville Studios, Bearsville, New York and The Club House, Germantown, New York from December 1994 to March 1995. Super-serious Natalie Merchant has loosened up since leaving 10,000 Maniacs. From the soulful march, "San Andreas Fault," that opens her solo debut, it is obvious she has found a freedom in going solo. It's evident in her less restrictive vocals and in a tighter, more expansive musical sound. Her lyrics, no surprise, remain somber. But in finally recording a song as throbbingly funky as "Carnival," Merchant offers a glimpse of what she always had lurking inside when she flailed about onstage with the Maniacs. And "River," a tribute to the late River Phoenix, gives her a chance to belt a lyric out--a pleasant, surprising change from her usual folkie whisper. TIGERLILY also includes some simple piano tracks that recall the earliest Maniacs records. The piano-voice duet has always been Merchant's forté, and her sweet, rich voice cuts through the heartbreaking loss of "Beloved Wife" and the unrequited love of "The Letter." And then, just when you think the piano is her sweetest ally, a captivating fiddle joins her and her piano for the winsome "Cowboy Romance."
| | Editorial reviews | ...With its unadorned, keyboard-based arrangements, TIGERLILY is more sparely produced than anything Merchant did with 10,000 Maniacs, yet the starkness works in her favor... - Rating: B+ Entertainment Weekly (06/23/1995)
...Her new playmates have a far greater stylistic range than the Maniacs, while Merchant conveys more passion and personality than in the past, adding anger and wit to confessionals... Musician (09/01/1995)
