While single horns are Popular with students and as an entry level horn, they are restricted, and have a lack of range, due to the constrictions of the available natural harmonics, of a horn pitched in a particular key. For the Player to be able to play the full repertoire, at correct pitch, the player would need to Horns, and the ability to continually change between them. The Alternative, is simply two horns in one, sharing the lead pipe and the bell, this horn has two complete pipelines, one pitched in Bb, and the other pitched in F. The 4th valve, operated by the thumb, enables the player to swithch between Bb side and the F side of the Horn. This not only extends the range of the horn, but also allows the player to select the most in tune harmonics.
