{A Lance Armstrong Race Issued US Postal Team 2002 Yellow Tour de France Time Trial Skinsuit} {Up for auction} American Cyclist, and 7-time Tour de France Winner Lance Armstrong's personally race issued/unworn US Postal Team 2002 Tour de France Yellow Time Trial Skinsuit. This skinsuit was produced in Italy by Nike, and provided to the Tour Organising Committee (ASO). The ASO then applied Lance's US Postal Team Sponsor Logos to the garment, and the TT Skinsuit was provided to Lance for use in one of the 2002 Tour de France Time Trial Stages. It is believed this garment may have been intended to be worn during the Prologue Time Trial, however Lance decided not to wear yellow as the previous Tour's winner and eventually decided to wear his standard US Postal colours. Lance was provided with a number of options in his daily race kit (short sleeves, long sleeves, thermals, slight color variations, etc.). This stunning all-yellow Time Trial Skinsuit was left unworn by Lance, but was on-hand in his race kit to be worn. There were a total of 4 Time Trial Stages during the 2002 Tour (2 individual, 1 prologue, 1 team time trial). Lance had worn his standard blue colours in the prologue, the team time trial and one of the individual time trials. Lance had chosen to wear yellow during the July 27 Time Trial, but chose a skinsuit that featured a yellow top, and his US Postal colours to the bottom. This is a truly unique opportunity to obtain one of Lance's Race Garments from the 2002 Tour de France. This style of garment was never made available to the public as a retail/replica version, and the jersey itself is basically entirely self-authenticating. Actual Tour de France Rider Garments are incredibly rare, and a Yellow Leader's garment is perhaps the most sought after symbol in the sport. This garment was engineered by Nike specifically for the riders of the Tour, designed entirely for performance at the highest level. This particular Time Trial Suit was provided to Lance as a part of his daily race kit as the overall leader of the Tour de France. The garment was provided to the Tour Organizing Committee (ASO) by Nike, who provided the garment with Armstrong's Team Discovery Sponsor Logos to Armstrong during the 2002 Tour de France. It's a long standing tradition, and the ASO handles all of the distribution of the appropriate garments to the riders at the top of each Race Classification Category. Further details on this process are available at request. The garment is sized appropriately (Large) for Armstrong. Lance traditionally had worn Large in his TT Suits, due to the nature of the garment. Made in Italy.
