Anne Primrose Jury RUA (Irish, 1907 - 1995) "Galway" oil on board, signed, offered without reserve.

This is a wonderful misty landscape by this well known and well listed Irish artist. She exhibited with the Belfast Art Society 1926-1929, the Ulster Academy of Arts 1931-1949, and the RUA 1950-1979. The painting is signed lower right, and inscribed verso - so we know where it is. It is a decent size, measuring 23 x 30cm and is in a fairly simple frame which to be honest does not really do it justice. It was framed years ago by "Muddle and Gibbons, Godalming". Irish landscapes by Jury of this size usually sell in Irish auction houses for around £1200 - £2000. The LAST photo is of another landscape by Jury sold a year or two ago in Dublin - this one of Achill Island - but they are so similar that you wonder if they were actually a pair at one stage. A lovely oil on canvas landscape by a famous Irish artist. Offered without reserve, and postage within the UK is... FREE!!!!

Terms and conditions - please read. I am an art enthusiast but it is not my profession. For reasons of clarity therefore, I follow standard auction descriptions as used by auction houses all over the world as follows:

"The artist name" In my opinion a work by the artist.

"Attributed to..." In my opinion probably a work by the artist.

"Studio of..." In my opinion, a work executed in the artists studio, under his supervision.

"Circle of..." In my opinion a work of the period of the artist and showing his influence.

"Follower of..." In my opinion a work executed in the artists style but not necessarily a pupil.

"Manner of..." In my opinion a work executed in the artist's style but of a later date.

"After..." In my opinion a copy of a work by the artist from a later date.

"Signed" In my opinion the work has been signed / dated / inscribed by the artist.

"Bears Signature / date /inscription" In my opinion the signature / date / inscription is by a hand other than the artist.

Questions and answers about this item
Q: hi is there any damage, foxing to picture. also is there any water damage as there appears to be water marks to rear.
A: Hi, Many thanks for your question. There certainly is some waterstaining verso - but it does not affect the painting at all. There are some tiny areas of paint loss - each area no more than about 1 - 3mm to the left and... Continue reading

More than happy to give a full refund if this is some kind of print or other form of copy - but it is definitely a painting.
