Up for bids today is a two piece boxed set of DVD's.  There are aproximately 30 discs in EACH BOX.  The series is A Romance of Three Kingdoms (like the games).  These are subtitled in English.  We watched these on a region free dvd player but they are PAL and can be viewed on a computer as well.  My husband watched all of them and they all work when viewed on the region free dvd player.

The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is adapted from one of the most famous Chinese classic novels with the same title by Luo Guanzhong, and based on the history of the Three Kingdoms period (220AD-280AD). The TV serial describes the intricate and tense struggles for the throne among three powerful political forces: Liu Bei, Cao Cao and Sun Quan, and focuses on various great talents and bold strategy during that period. It is an epic times that carries many different outstanding heroes. 

To reproduce this historical period, China Central Television (CCTV) spent nearly 4 years on shooting the serial in 84 episodes based on the novel, by a great deal of funds, manpower & material resources. Now, they are released in high quality DVD format to which you may watch these 46 hours' episodes at very low cost.
