SIZE IS APPROX. 102" x 102" AND IT IS STILL IN GOOD CONDITION. IT IS LITTLE DIRTY WITH SOME LITTLE ISSUES, NOTHING UNUSUAL FOR 150 YEARS OLD QUILT AND IT IS FREE OF ANY KIND OF MUSKY SMELLS. Anna Maria Dehuff may have made this quilt in anticipation of her 2/1858 marriage. One genealogist states she "was educated at York at the York County Academy (Mr. Prince, principal), and the Ladies Seminary, 'located on the west bank of the then picturesque Cederus Creek. This old seminary some years ago was removed to be replaced by the York Gas Works. Before her marriage, she was active in educational pursuits, being the first to introduce music into the public schools of York. She was for years a leading soprano in the Moravian Church choir and very popular socially. After her marriage to Dr. Francis Abraham Heistand Koch, they established a house on a farm owned by the Doctor about twelve miles west of York, and cultivated about 160 acres of land. The Doctor also followed his profession, building up a very large practice. In the spring of 1867, they purchased at public sale the Reformed Church parsonage located on the east side of York Street....
