This is an English wool sampler stitched in bright colours on a black ground. It is made up of alphabets and numbers, birds, dogs, plant pots and text. It reads- 'Alice Hoare Age 10 years Central Board School Brierley Hill 1875' It measures approx. 12 inches x 12 inches. It is in excellent condition but there is a small area of about 0.5 inch through the double G's and P's, which has faded to a slightly greeny-black colour, presumably Alice used a different hank of wool for this bit. It is barely noticeable but I am mentioning it for accuracy. No moth holes or lost stitches. It is unframed so it is easy to post. [DO23]
