Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865 ) Abraham Lincoln is reguarded as one of our Greatest Presidents. Of this process, letting the plaster heat up and harden on his face and then being pulled off with some of his hair Lincoln stated "It was anything but agreeable." When Lincoln saw the final cast he declaired it "The animal Himself." Volk took the cast to use as a model for the Statue of Lincoln at the Illinois state Capital in Springfield. This cast has always been concidered by Sculptors and Artists as the most reliable document of Lincoln and far more valuable than photographs, for it is the actual form.
This started with an actual life cast mask of Abraham Lincoln taken in 1860 Then it has been sculpturaly enhanced by me Erick Erickson.
The Hair, eye brows and beard have been added. The eyes have been sculpted open reflecting all that is good and just. I set Lincolns head in a downward glance like that of the Lincoln Memorial.Abraham Lincoln's Inaugural suit has been sculpted so you can see every stitch. The detail is what makes it live. The result is now when you look at this work of art it is Abraham Lincoln just as he was at the age of 52 during the moment of his Inauguration. The finished piece is cast in USG's Tuf-Cal gypsum cement, it is fiber filled and has polymer additves to assure it will last forever.
It measures 14" High X 11" Wide X 6 3/4" Deep.
It is aproximatly 16 pounds packed.
It is finished in Memorial Bronze then rubbed with an antiquing overlay to bring out the detail.
The piece is then sealed with a clear coat to preserve the finish.
The bust can stand alone on any flat surface or it can be hung on the wall and comes with hanging instructions and the screw.
