Acai Benefits

Just the mention of a product coming from the Amazon has the overtones of possessing mysterious health benefits. Acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) is the high-energy berry of a special Amazon palm tree. Its nutritional benefits are so powerful, Dr. Nicholas Perricone lists it as one of his top 10 Super Foods at Oprah's Web site.

Studies have shown that the Acai berry is one of the more nutritious and powerful foods on the planet. Harvested in the rainforests of Brazil, Acai tastes like a mix of berries and chocolate. Hidden within its purple pigment is what makes it the perfect energy fruit. Acai is packed full of antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids.

The benefits of Acai are purported to be good for detoxing and maintaining optimal health for balancing your pH level. Proper pH balance is vital to our immune health and for disease prevention and correction. Other benefits you'll enjoy:

  • Acai has a high concentration of antioxidants that combat premature aging. It has 10 times the antioxidants that red grapes have, and as much as 30 times the anthocyanins of red wine. Anthocyanins may have antioxidant effects, possibly fighting cancer, diabetes, and bacterial infections, to name a few.
  • Healthy monounsaturated fats, dietary fiber and phytosterols together help promote cardiovascular and digestive health.
  • An amino acid complex in conjunction with valuable trace minerals, help with muscular health.

WUYI

Here's the deal. Legitimate scientific research, published in the world's leading academic journals, is now showing that an extraordinarily rare tea produced at Mt. Wu Yi Shan in China's Fujian Province may carry remarkable slimming and health benefits... so much so that Chinese scientists are calling it, "The world's most powerful fat burner."

This deep, rich tea is called Wu-Long, and 37 scientific studies published within the last several months alone show it helps melt away bodyfat; boost energy; and even clarify skin, giving your face a clear, radiant glow. More about these scientifically documented benefits in a moment. But first, to express to you just how certain we are Wu-Long will help you, we're extending to you a special limited-time offer.

Here is a small sample of more scientifically documented benefits you may experience by using our Premium Wu-Long Tea:

* Wuyi/Wu yi Wulong Tea Burns 2.5 Times MORE Calories Than Authentic Green Tea: In a new study published in the Journal of Medical Investigation, scientists from Japan's University of Tokushima School of Medicine found that people who regularly consumed this tea experienced over TWICE the calorie-burning results of those who drank the same amount of authentic Japanese green tea. Remarkable!

* Wuyi/Wu yi Wulong Tea Reduces the Fattening Effects of Carbs: Eating too many carbohydrates causes weight gain by increasing insulin levels. (Insulin is your body's "fat-storing" hormone.) But a new study from scientists at the Suntory Research Center in Osaka, Japan, shows that drinking our premium Wu-Long 15 minutes before eating carbohydrates helps "blunt" the rise in insulin you normally get after eating carbs. This means that by drinking Wu-Long, you can have your cake and eat it, too!

* Wuyi/Wu yi Wulong Tea Clarifies Skin; Gives Your Face a Clear, Healthy Glow: In a new study published in the academic journal Archives of Dermatology, researchers from Japan's Shiga University of Medical Science found that drinking Wu-Long daily dramatically clears up skin within just one month.

* Wuyi/Wu yi Wulong Tea Reverses Signs of Aging: Free radicals are damaging substances in your body caused by ultra-violet rays, chemical food additives, pollution and stress. As you grow older, the amount of free radicals within your body increases naturally. Unfortunately, research links these damaging substances to many signs of aging, including wrinkles, dark spots and certain diseases. In one 2004 study by Dr. Kenichi Yanagimoto and colleagues from the University of California, Davis, people who drank Wu-Long daily experienced a remarkable 50 percent reduction in free radicals within just 15 days!

* Wuyi/Wu yi Wulong Tea Promotes Strong, Healthy Teeth: A new study from the Department of Dentistry at Japan's Osaka University shows the regular consumption of Wu-Long strengthens teeth and helps prevent tooth decay by significantly inhibiting plaque deposition.

* Wuyi/Wu yi Wulong Tea Strengthens Your Immune System: According to a new 2004 study published in the scientific journal Antioxidants & Redox Signaling, test subjects who consumed Wu-Long were found to have a stronger immune system and a significantly lower risk for infections such as the common cold.

* Wuyi/Wu yi Wulong Tea Enhances Mind-Body Wellness: Perhaps the most notable testament to the power of Wu-Long comes from the esteemed Chinese pharmaceutical book Bencao Shiyi (The Compendium of Materia Medica), which says the tea "will make one live long and stay in good shape." It contains the amino acid L-theanine which enhances alpha brain wave activity and promotes the production of the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, thereby conteracting the jittery effects of caffeine.

* Wuyi/Wu yi Wulong Tea is 100% Natural & Nourishing: Unlike artificial "fat burners," Wu-Long is natural and nourishing to your health. Many users report feelings of increased focus and well-being. Keep in mind, Wu-Long does contain some caffeine, about as much as a cup of green tea but less than a cup of coffee.

How is Wuyi/Wu yi Wulong Tea Made? - Farmers usually pick the tea leaves, making sure they are mature and fully grown. After awhile they allow the leaves to oxidize, a process called "withering". During this process, the Wulong tea leaves are simply left outdoors in the sun. Of course, sunny weather is preferable, but surprisingly farmers prefer a little wind too.

During this process of oxidation, the tea leaves become darker. When this process is done, the leaves are moved back indoors, where they are rotated at a temperature of around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Afterwards, the Wulong leaves are heated for 5 minutes or so at extremely high temperatures. Before the temperature drops, the leaves are rolled in mills. These leaves are spread out on a drying machine, and dried out several times. It's a very interesting process... they should have WuLong tea tours to see how they're made!

WuLong tea is partially oxidized, whereas black tea is 100% oxidized. Wulong tea brews to a golden-like color, releasing a very fruity aroma.

A compound known as catechins are abudant in fresh tea leaves. However, when you process the raw tea (oxidize it), the number of catechins decrease. White tea usually has the most catechins, and green tea is second.

So the point is oxidation does not lead decrease the healthy components of tea. All it does it "trade" an anti-oxidant for another anti-oxidant. This is why we should just drink 1 single type of tea, but instead try to drink a variety of healthy teas, and get a whole range of anti-oxidants.

Today, scientific research in both Asia and the west is providing hard evidence for the health benefits long associated with drinking green tea. For example, in 1994 the Journal of the National Cancer Institute published the results of an epidemiological study indicating that drinking green tea reduced the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by nearly sixty percent. University of Purdue researchers recently concluded that a compound in green tea inhibits the growth of cancer cells. There is also research indicating that drinking green tea lowers total cholesterol levels, as well as improving the ratio of good (HDL) cholesterol to bad (LDL) cholesterol.
It has also shown fantastic results in contributing to weight loss.

Green Tea has long been valued in China for its miraculous medicinal properties for the maintenance of good health. It has been said in China "it is better to drink Green Tea than take medicine".

Xylitol Benefits

Xylitol is a natural low-glycemic sweetener, manufactured from birch trees, corn, or other natural xylan-rich sources. It is metabolized independently of insulin and is safe for diabetes or anyone seeking a healthier life-style.

Xylitol is not only a safe, natural sweetener without the bad side-effects of sugar and artificial substitutes, it's also good for your teeth, stabilizes insulin and hormone levels, and promotes good health.

Pure xylitol is a white crystalline substance that looks and tastes like sugar. On food labels, xylitol is classified broadly as a carbohydrate and more narrowly as a polyol. Because xylitol is only slowly absorbed and partially utilized, a reduced calorie claim is allowed: 2.4 calories per gram or 40% less than other carbohydrates.

Xylitol is a natural sweetener found in many fruits and vegetables. Dental and medical professionals use xylitol worldwide since it’s been clinically proven to fight cavities and reduce plaque. Xylitol tastes like sugar with 1/3 fewer calories. It is recommended for people with diabetes and hypoglycemia because it has a low glycemic index of 7. Xylitol also inhibits the metabolic process of cavity causing bacteria. Whether you’re looking for a low calorie sweetener¸ an alternative to sugar for those with diabetes or hypoglycemia¸ or better dental health¸ Xylitol is a great tasting solution.

Some health regimens require iron willpower, discipline, and commitment. But xylitol tastes so good that it becomes automatic. Children love it! Nagging is minimized.

Matcha Processing

The young tea leaves are picked in early May and lightly steamed to prevent any fermentation. This allows the tea to retain its beautiful green color. Then the tea leaves are dried. Traditionally, at this point, the leaves would be stored in chatsubo/tea jars and allowed to season until November, at which time they can be stone-ground as needed. For consistency, the leaves from various varieties of tea plants are blended to produce the best flavor, color, and aroma. Before being stone-ground, the leaves are processed to obtain only the meat part of the leaf. The stems and veins are removed so that the tea will be very fine when ground. It takes one hour to grind somewhat less than 40g of matcha and in the end the final product is about 1/10th of the original harvest. Although clippers can be used to harvest the tea leaves, the leaves for koicha/thick tea are still picked by hand, one by one.

Matcha is the vibrant green powdered tea used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. It is made from the leaves of shade grown tea trees. When the leaves are harvested they are steamed, dried and then further processed to remove the veins, stems and impurities. Only about 10% of the original harvest remains, and this is called the "tencha". The tencha is then ground to a fine powder often in a stone mill. It takes about one hour to produce an ounce of matcha, because grinding any faster would result in a burnt tasting tea. Today the highest grades of matcha usually remain in Japan for use in their tea ceremonies and the price can be as high as $100 an ounce. The majority of matcha available in the general market today is now ground by sophisticated machines, which make it affordable to the average tea drinker. Regardless of the grinding technique used, the production of matcha requires a great deal of hand labour, skill and time.

Matcha is becoming increasingly popular in the Japanese and international beverage and food market because of its versatility and health benefits. Matcha's flavour blends well in dairy-based recipes and its powder form makes it easy to work with. Matcha is being used in ice cream, cheese cakes, cream cheese spreads, white chocolate, latte beverages, hot chocolate etc. There is no limit to the recipes that matcha can be added to.

The Health Benefits of Green Tea.

Green tea contains antioxidants properties, polyphenols, theanine, as well as a wide variety of vitamins and minerals.
Polyphenols - Polyphenols are a class of phytochemicals found in high concentrations in green tea, and have been associated with heart disease and cancer prevention. The slight astringent, bitter taste of green tea is attributed to polyphenols.

Tannins - A group of simple and complex phenol, polyphenol, and flavonoid compounds. Produced by plants, all of the tannins are relatively resistant to digestion or fermentation. All tannins act as astringents, shrinking tissues and contracting structural proteins in the skin and mucosa.

Catechins - Catechins are a category of polyphenols. In green tea, catechins are present in significant quantities, more specifically; epicatechin (EC), epigallocatechin (EGC), epicatechin gallate (ECG) and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG makes up about 10-50% of the total catechin content and appears to be the most powerful of the catechins ?with antioxidant activity about 25-100 times more potent than vitamins C and E. A cup of green tea may provide 10-40mg of polyphenols and has antioxidant activity greater than a serving of broccoli, spinach, carrots or strawberries.

Flavonoids - Flavonoids are plant pigments, and are the brightly colored chemical constituents found in most fresh fruits and vegetables. They may aid in protecting against infection. Deficiency can result in a tendency to bruise easily.

Theanine - An amino acid that produces tranquilizing effects in the brain, theanine is a unique amino acid found in the leaves sencha. Theanine is quite different from the polyphenol and catechin antioxidants for which green tea is typically consumed. Through the natural production of polyphenols, the tea plant converts theanine into catechins. This means that tea leaves harvested during one part of the growing season may be high in catechins (good for antioxidant benefits), while leaves harvested during another time of year may be higher in theanine (good for anti-stress and cortisol-controlling effects). Three to four cups of sencha are expected to contain 100-200 mg of theanine.

2 cups of green tea has approximately twice the antioxidants of red wine, 7 times that of orange juice, & 20 times that of apple juice.

Drinking green tea will provide your body with many health benefits:

  • Rich in antioxidants - antioxidants are natural compounds that help protect the body from harmful free radicals, which are believed to be the cause of destruction & death in nearly all living things. Free radicals can attack, damage, & ultimately destroy organic material
  • Increases your metabolism - helps to loose weight
  • Protects against cancer
  • Bolsters your immune defenses
  • Less caffeine than coffee
  • May reduce your risk of heart attack & stroke
  • Helps protect your bones & prevents tooth decay
  • Helps to keep you hydrated
  • Calorie-free (without milk) and helps prevent Obesity
