ACEO Theme Week (TW) Leaning Tower of Pisa Italy Photo Digital Altered Art

"Lean on Me"

This is one of my entries for November Theme Week (search ACEO TW on eBay). This is a monthly themed art contest run by the Art Cards, Editions and Originals (ACEOs) group.  Artists make and list artwork for the theme, with a fixed starting price of just $4.99.  The artists with the most unique bids win prizes.  But more importantly, we have fun as we challenge ourselves to create!
 
This month, the theme is "World Countries or Cultures".
 
Back in August I had the pleasure to spend several weeks in Italy, with a quick but significant stop in Pisa, where I took the photo used as the background on this card.

Series: Theme Week

I started this card with a favorite photo that I took in Pisa.  Yes, the Leaning Tower of Lisa really does lean at quite an angle!


I digitally altered the photo to serve as the background, printed this on glossy photo paper, then overlayed it with an acrylic card.  I created the digital collage of a young Italian couple with the words "Lean on Me".  This is stitched into place along with an Italian postage stamp, and onto the front I have stamped "Fragile".

 

On the back is another collage of paper, postage stamps and stamped postal images.


The front and back are secured together with zig-zag stitching along the edges, using gold metallic thread.  On the back the thread is highlighted with gold glitter acrylic paint and the back is sealed with polyacrylic.

Your ACEO/ ATC will be carefully shipped in a new protective plastic sleeve, top loader or vellum envelope between unused card stock.   Dimensional cards will be shipped in a bubble envelope.
