& Collage - created from the ORIGINAL pages from a
vintage 20s or 30 store catalog. These pages are brittle, so there are
flaws. Adhering to acid-free cards of white or black. Tags are of
vintage 1920s ladies and film stars - paintakingly resized, and
converted to sepia, then printed onto acid-free TEXTURED sepia paper
and made into tags. Some tags have been stuck onto cards where full
page images aren't used, BUT the main componet is a tag at the top of
the card attached by a RIBBON. This is not stuck down. The edges of the
advertisements have been 'distressed' for an aged look. The alphabet is
from that era, printed onto acetate.
Inspiration for this came from the natural sepia tone of the
print/paper, and finding the wonderful striped pinkish/brown satin
ribbon that yelled 'vintage'. Then it seemed obvious to put on some of
the ladies that might have bought these fashionable $3.50 SILK dresses!
The illustrations made me smile so much, as the women in the drawings
have such unnatural elongated bodies, that I am sure NO women would
ever look like the pictures portray!
Each
has
a unique composition, but work well as a 'set' or individual cards.

"I
have a family
member undergoing chemo & bone marrow transplants. She
is just 25. I was at a loss as to what to do. I know of long
hours spent in hospital, with visitors and staff - and thought of
providing trading card albums and 'kick-starting' an ACEO collection as
an area of interest for long-term patients that can be shared with
those around them, and well-wishes of those who want to send cards to
add to the collections. So, we have started an on-going 'hospital'
theme for ACEOs - ACEOs suitable for collecting or providing
interaction, or with a hospital theme. This is how I started off
her album and collection - with a set of prints from the first series
of collaged
alphabet art cards and I will add this 6th series to her collection."
