Comments- This was a private commission for Jason for one of his books. I was allowed free reign to do whatever I wanted...Oh what Joy!! I noticed that just about everyone else who had done a portrait of him had made him look "pretty". I didn't really want to do a piece that was going to end up in my closet, so I found this great evil reference of him clasping his hands together. When I saw his hands I immediately had a vision of of these faerie wings popping out from between his fingers. The rest of the piece just snowballed from there. I thought, what if he collected faeries like an entomologist collects bugs and he he pins them in little boxes!!?? So, in the background if you look very carefully are Tinker Bell, the Tooth Fairy, a Fairy Goth-Mother, and a shout out to Amy Brown's fairys. I wanted the piece, at first glance, to seem very serious but the more you look at it, it's actually very tongue in cheek. I thought I'd add the little tomato pin cusion as an extra touch.
