The reserve on this lamp is set at $350. Up for bids tonight is this Adlake Telegraph and Train Order Lamp. It was made by the Adams & Westlake Co. of Chicago. The bail handle is an unuasal shape with a small washer like piece soldered in the middle. There are no holes drilled in this lamp as it was not electrified. The font is present as seen in the photos, and the wick raiser is spring loaded and works well. The lenses are in good condition without chips or cracks and the snow hoods are all present. This lamp was made during World War I because the Adlake patent tag is made of steel not brass as brass was unavailable during the war. Brass was used for shell casings. As a result of this the steel tag has some rust on it that has caused a small part of the tag to detierorate as seen in the photos. The rust on this lamp is minamal and on the surface. The vent cone is there and the cast iron base is without chips or cracks. All in all this lamp would be a excellant addition to any railroad collection. Lamp is in as found condition with the addition of the font which I already had.
